JOSEPH KILBOURNE (1652–1706), son of George Kilbourne and Elizabeth Unknown

MARY TRUMBLE (1654–1715), daughter of John Trumble and Ann Unknown


Joseph, the son of George and Elizabeth Kilbourne, was born on 5 April 1652 in Rowley. [1] He was "slain by ye Indians at Dunstable" on 10 July 1706. [1] He married Mary Trumble on 30 May 1678 in Rowley. [1][2]

Mary, the daughter of John and Ann Trumble, was born on 17 June 1654 in Rowley. [1] The widow of Joseph died on 9 February 1715 in Rowley. [1]

Mary is called Mary Kilbourne in the settlement of her father's estate. [3]

Joseph Kilbourne and his wife were fined for fornication [before marriage, a not uncommon occurrence] at the April 1679 court in Ipswich. [4, 7: 183]

Joseph Kilbourne died intestate. His widow Mary Kilbourne and Joseph Kilbourne, Jr. posted bond on his estate on 5 May 1707. [5]

Jeremiah Chaplin and Ann, his wife and daughter of Joseph Kilbourne of Rowley, deceased, and Mary and Abigail Kilbourne, daughters of the deceased, all of Rowley, for 69 pounds paid to them by their brother George Kilbourne and their sister Mary, widow of their brother Joseph Kilbourne of Rowley, quit claimed to George and Mary all their rights in the estate of their deceased father on 10 May 1723. [5]

Children of Joseph Kilbourne and Mary Trumble:

i. Joseph Kilbourne was born on 20 October 1678 in Rowley. He was buried there on 11 January 1678[/9?].

ii. Ann Kilbourne was born on 28 November 1680 in Rowley. [1] She died on 24 August 1751. [2] She married Captain Jeremiah Chaplin on 28 February 1703/4 in Rowley. [1][2] Jeremiah, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (West) Chaplin, died on 17 December 1765, age 85. [2]

iii. Joseph Kilbourne was born on 16 January 1683 in Rowley. He died on 6 March 1723 He married Mary Unknown.

iv. George Kilbourne was born on 21 January 1686 in Rowley. [1] He died "suddenly" on 8 June 1758. [2] He married Phebe, the daughter of Deacon Samuel Palmer of Rowley, on 13 May 1712. [2]

v. Mary Kilbourne was born on 22 September 1689 in Rowley. [1] She died on 17 September 1770. [2] She married as his third wife Ephraim, the son of Thomas and Mary (Lunt) Nelson, on 31 July 1723. [2]

vi. Elizabeth Kilbourne was born on 22 June 1692 in Rowley. [1] "Sarah" Kilbourne was baptized on 26 June 1692 in Rowley. [1]

vii. Abigail Kilbourne was born on 15 July 1694 in Rowley. [1] She died on 11 November 1773. [2] She married first Richard Clark on 9 August 1727. [2] She married second Anthony Atwood on 11 June 1734. [2]
