GEORGE KILBOURNE (d. 1685)

ELIZABETH UNKNOWN (d. 1692/8)

George Kilbourne of Rowley died on 14 October 1685. [1][2, 9: 561–2]

Elizabeth was living on 24 November 1685. She might be the Elizabeth who died on 4 December 1692 in Rowley or the one who died on 13 February 1697/8. [3]

It has been argued that George is not the son of Thomas Kilbourne, who was baptized in 1611/2 at Wood Ditton, Cambridgeshire. [4]

George joined the Roxbury church in late 1638. [4] He was a freeman on 13 May 1640. [5]

George was on the grand jury at the September 1662, September 1684, and March 1685 quarterly courts in Ipswich. [2, 2: 433; 6: 196; 9: 311, 9: 431] He was on the trial jury at the September 1671, March 1675, and September 1676 courts in Ipswich. [2, 3: 419; 6: 1]

George was on a coroner's enquest that returned a verdict on 26 January 1670 that William Scales died when the limb of a tree fell on him, breaking his skull. [2, 4: 320]

George was chosen a selectman of Rowley on 15 January 1672. [1]

The inventory of George's estate was exhibited at the November 1685 court in Salem. It amounted to £338-02-03, with debts owed by him of £18-17-05 and debts due to him of £28-09-00, including 20 pounds owed by Nathaniel Barker. His widow Elizabeth and son Joseph, the administrators, appeared in court on 24 November 1685. [2, 9: 561–2]
