MARY RIGGS (bp. 1632), daughter of Edward Riggs and Elizabeth Holmes

Benjamin Twitchell, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Lovett) Twitchell, was baptized on 22 February 1617/8 in Heston, Middlesex, England. [1] He died on 17 December 1681 in Sherborn. [1][2][3] He married Mary, the daughter of Edward (Holmes) Riggs. [1][4]

Mary, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Holmes) Riggs, was baptized on 1 July 1632 in Nazeing, county Essex. [2] She married second Samuel Mills on 3 February 1684/5 in Dedham or Medfield. [2] Samuel married first Frances Pimbrook. [2]

Inventory of the estate of Benjamin Twitchell of Sherborn was taken on 23 December 1681. His son Joseph testified to it on 29 December 1681; his widow said that she was too weak to appear. His estate amounted to £102-06-06. [3]

Mary and her children were mentioned in her father Edward Riggs's will of 2 September 1670. [2]

After perusing the Medfield town meeting records, Henry Twitchell, Jr. reported the following: [8]

For six summer months in 1683 the Medfield town selectmen met to consider one and only one matter: Josiah Rocket was harboring one "Abiel Twichel" and her child in his house, who continuing there may have become chargeable to the [constable] to forbid said Josiah Rockett any longer to entertain ye said Abiel and also to warn her out of town. Josiah Rockett was fined 20 shillings for not obeying these orders promptly.
