NATHAN SMITH, son of Thomas Smith and Alice Unknown

ELIZABETH COALE, daughter William Coale and Elizabeth Thomas


Nathan Smith of Calvert County, being "sick and weak" made his will on 23 November 1710. He left his wife his dwelling house and land, with the only restriction that when his youngest son Philip became 19 that he be permitted to settle on some part of the land and farm it. He left his sons Joseph, Nathan, William, and Thomas land, livestock, and enslaved people. He left his daughters Elizabeth, Susannah, Sarah, Cassandra, and Mary Smith land. He named his wife and son Joseph his executors; the other children were minors. He asked his brothers Thomas Smith, Philip Coale, Richard Galloway and [illegible] Richardson to be overseers. The will was proved on 30 January 1710/1. [w]

Elizabeth was born after 1662, as she is referred to as under 16 in her father's will of 26 October 1678.

Elizabeth is mentioned in the 9 September 1674 will of her grandfather Philip Thomas.
