TIMOTHY JACKMAN (1702–1787), son of James Jackman and Rachel Noyes

HANNAH CHUTE (1700–1787), daughter of James Chute and Mary Wood


Timothy, the son of James and Rachel Jackman, was born on 5 October 1702 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. [1] He died in 1787 in Byfield Parish. [2] He married Hannah Chute of Rowley, Essex County on 9 April 1723 in Newbury. [1]

Hannah, the daughter of James and Mary Chute, was born on 8 July 1700 in Rowley. [3] Hannah, the wife of Timothy Jackman died in June 1787 in Byfield Parish. [2]

Byfield is now a village in Newbury but parts of Byfield were originally in Rowley.

Children of Timothy Jackman and Hannah Chute: Births of the first three recorded in Newbury as the children of Timothy and Hannah. [1] Baptisms of the last four recorded in Newbury as the children of Timothy. [1]

i. Benjamin Jackman was born on 19 September 1724. He died on 18 October 1799 in Byfield Parish. [2] His wife died on 12 October 1799 in Byfield Parish. [2]

ii. Hannah Jackman was born on 28 May 1727. She might be the Hannah who married Moses Emery on 29 May 1745 in Newbury. [1]

iii. Captain Timothy Jackman was born on 13 July 1729. He died on 8 July 1795. He married first Mary Thurston. He married second Hannah Jackman. He married third Anne Adams.

iv. Mary Jackman was baptized on 29 August 1731. She is probably the Mary who married Daniel Eastman of Salisbury on 15 May 1760 in Newbury. [1] This Mary died on 7 September 1763. [4] Daniel was the son of Roger Eastman (John, John, Roger) and Jerusha Fitts (Richard). [4] He was born on 9 September 1733. [4]

Daniel moved to Maine shortly after his wife's death. [4]

v. Esther Jackman was baptized on 15 September 1734.

vi. Mary Jackman was baptized on 13 February 1736/7.

vii. Ruth Jackman was baptized on 12 April 1741. She died on 19 February 1774 in Newbury. [1] Ruth of Byfield Rowley married Elias Cheney as his second wife on 9 March 1768 in Newbury. [1] Elias, the son of Moses and Sarah (Whitten) Cheney, was born on 20 February 1741 in Newbury. [1] He married first Jane Plumber of Rowley on 7 September 1762 in Newbury. [1] Jane, the daughter of Lieutenant John and Mary (Nelson) Plumber was baptized in the Second Church in Rowley. [5] He married third Hannah Pike of Byfield Rowley on 8 June 1774 in Newbury. [1] Hannah, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Little) Pike, was born on 4 July 1744. [6]

Elias is said to have been a Revolutionary War soldier and to have gone to Thornton, Grafton County, New Hamphire.
