LIEUTENANT NATHANIEL ABBOTT (1671–1749), son of George Abbott and Hannah Chandler

DORCAS HIBBERT (d. 1742), daughter of Joseph Hibbert and Elizabeth Graves

Nathaniel, the son of George and Hannah Abbott, was born on 4 July 1671 in Andover. [1] Mr. Nathaniel Abbott died on 1 December 1749, age 78, in Andover. [1][2] He married Dorcas Hibbert on 22 October 1695 in Andover. [1][3]

Dorcas, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Graves) Hibbert, was baptized [not as an infant] on 19 June 1692 in Beverly. [3][4][5] She was born say 1672. Dorcas, the wife of Lieutenant Nathaniel, died on 16 February 1741/2 in Andover. [1][2]

Nathaniel was a wheelwright in Andover. [2]

On 21 April 1727 Nathaniel Abbott of Andover and his wife were among the heirs of Joseph Hibbert who releasted rights in Hibbert property in Beverly. [6]

The South Parish in Andover was incorporated in May 1709 and Dorcas Abbott was an original church member. [7]

Children of Nathaniel Abbott and Dorcas Hibbert:

i. Mary Abbott was born on 28 January 1697/8 in Andover. [1] She married Benjamin Blanchard of Hollis, New Hampshire on 29 December 1718. [1][2] Benjamin was probably the son of Jonathan Blanchard and his wife Ann Lovejoy, born on 14 February 1692/3 in Andover. [1]

Four of Benjamin and Mary's children died within days of each other in October 1739, probably of diphtheria or scarlet fever. [8, 25–27]

ii. Captain Nathaniel Abbott was born on 9 June 1700 in Andover. He died in 1770. He married first Penelope Ballard. He married second Mehitable Unknown.

iii. Sarah Abbott (possible daughter) was born say 1702. She married Joseph Blanchard of Andover on 4 April 1722. [1][2] Joseph was probably the son of Thomas and Rose (Holmes) Blanchard, born on 19 February 1700/1 in Andover. [1]

iv. Deacon Joseph Abbott (probable son) was born on 22 January 1704/5 in Andover. [1, first name missing] He died on 23 August 1787, age 82, in Wilton, New Hampshire. Joseph was elected deacon in Andover on 20 March 1744. [7] He moved to Wilton, New Hampshire in 1776. [7]

v. Tabitha Abbott (possible daughter) was born about 1707. [2] She married John Chandler on 5 January 1726/7. [1][2] Captain John Chandler was the great-great-grandson of Captain Thomas Chandler, the brother of Tabitha's grandmother Hannah Chandler. [HNC] He was born about 1703 and he died on 26 July 1775, age 72. [8]

John and Tabitha lived in Andover and Concord, New Hampshire. [2]
