Job Giddings (c. 1676–1709), son of John Giddings and Sarah Alcock

Sarah Butler (1680–.aft 1724), daughter of Lieutenant William Butler and Sarah Cross


Job Giddings died on 27 February 1708/9, age 32, in Ipswich. [1]

Sarah, the daughter of William and Sarah Butler, was born on 23 July 1680 in Ipswich. [1] The widow Sarah married John Bailey on 29 September 1711 in Ipswich. [1]

Administration of the estate of Job Giddings of Chebacco was given to Sarah Giddings, widow, on 4 April 1709. The estate was divided one-third for Job, the eldest son, one-third for Sarah, and one-sixth each for children Sarah and John. [2]

A 23 December 1701 deed has, "William Butler, Sr. of Chebacco in Ipswich, farmer, in consideration of 30 pounds paid by my son-in-law ... ." [2] Sarah is called Sarah Bailey in her father's will of 6 October 1724. He leaves bequests to his grandson Job Giddings and his granddaughter Sarah Bennett. [2]

Children of Job Giddings and Sarah Butler:

i. Job Giddings might be the Job who died on 21 April 1753 in Ipswich. [1] He married Margaret Low on 1 January 1723/4 in Ipswich. [1]

Inventory on Job's estate was exhibited by Margaret Giddings, his widow, on 27 October 1755. [3]

ii. Sarah Giddings was born say 1698. She died on 14 September 1788 in Hampton, Windham County, Connecticut. She married William Bennett.

iii. John Giddings was born about 1707. John, the son of Job and Sarah, died on 24 October 1727, age 20, in Ipswich. [1]
