Huldah Symonds (1660–1746), daughter of William Symonds and Judith Phippen


Samuel, the son of Samuel Blodgett, was born on 10 December 1658 in Woburn. [1] Samuel, Sr. died on 5 November 1743 in Woburn. [1] He married Huldah Symonds on 30 April 1683 in Woburn. [1]

Huldah, the daughter of William Symonds, was born on 20 November 1660 in Woburn. [1] Huldah, the widow of Samuel, died on 13 March 1746 in Woburn. [1]

The heirs of Huldah of Woburn, widow of Samuel, who died on 5 November 1743, asked the judge to appoint Captain Nathan Blodgett to administer her estate on 17 March 1745. The request was signed by John Blodgett, Benjamin Blodgett, Ebenezer Reed and Elizabeth Blodgett, the administrator of the estate of Caleb Blodgett. This was granted and he posted bond the same day. Inventory was taken on 26 March 1746 and contained a sizable wardrobe, a substantial amount of household goods, and three books. [2]

i. Ensign Samuel Blodgett was born on 21 December 1683. He died on 5 November 1743 in Woburn. [1] He married Lydia Johnson. Lydia was the daughter of Matthew and Rebecca (Wiswall) Johnson and the granddaughter of Captain Edward Johnson and Elder John Wiswall. [3]

ii. Captain Daniel Blodgett was born on 24 March 1685. He died on 15 December 1762 in Stafford, Tolland County, Connecticut. [4][5] Daniel of Woburn married Mary Mallet of Charlestown on 4 April 1709 in Charlestown. [1] Mary, the wife of Captain Daniel, died on 3 March 1759 in Stafford. [5]

iii. Doctor William Blodgett was born on 11 January 1686. died on 17 December 1739, probably in Preston, New London County, Connecticut. He married Sarah Hall.

iv. Huldah Blodgett was born on 9 February 1689. Huldah, the wife of Mr. Ebenezer, died on 11 May 1778 in Woburn, age 87. [1] She married Ebenezer Reed. Ebenezer, the son of George and Abigail (Pierce) Reed, was born on 16 March 1690 in Woburn. [1] He died on 9 July 1767 in Woburn. [4]

v. Captain Caleb Blodgett was born on 11 November 1691. He died on 17 June 1745 in Woburn. [1] Elizabeth, the wife of Caleb, died on 24 May 1713, age about 22, in Woburn. [1] He married second Sarah Wyman. [4] Sarah, the daughter of Seth and Hester (Johnson) Wyman was born on 17 January 1690/1 in Woburn. [4] He married third Elizabeth Wyman on 7 August 1744 in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. [4]She married Simon Wade of Woburn on 15 September 1747 in Hampton Falls. [2][4]

Elizabeth, the widow of Caleb, posted bond on his estate on 19 August 1745. Inventory was taken on 16 September 1745 and Elizabeth made oath to it on 11 July 1746. [2]

vi. Joshua Blodgett was born on 26 February 1694. He probably died before 4 August 1743. He married Dinah Unknown.

vii. Josiah Blodgett was born on 27 March 1696. Josiah might have gone to Stafford and died there on 1 May 1775. [4][5] He married Elizabeth Unknown. Elizabeth, the wife of Josiah, died on 22 July 1764 in Stafford. [5]

viii. John Blodgett was born on 19 April 1699. He died after 17 March 1746. He married Sarah Johnson of Woburn on 14 May 1722 in Woburn. [1] Sarah is probably the daughter of Matthew and Mary (Reed) Johnson, born on 15 September 1703 in Woburn. [1]

ix. Benjamin Blodgett was born on 4 March 1701. He married Abigail Farley on 15 November 1754 in Pelham, New Hampshire. [6] Abigail, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Abigail (Cook) Farley and granddaughter of Caleb Farley and Samuel Cook, was born on 18 December 1716 in Billerica. [6]

x. Captain Nathan Blodgett was born on 15 March 1704. He died on 24 September 1747, age 43, in Woburn. [1] He married Abigail Converse of Woburn on 4 January 1727 in Woburn. [1] Abigail, the daughter of John and Abigail (Sawyer) Converse, was born in 1705 in Woburn. [1] She died on 10 April 1793 in Bradford. [4] She married second Reverend William Balch. [4] William, the son of Freeborn and Elizabeth (Fairchild) Balch, was born on 30 September 1704 in Beverly and died on 12 January 1791 in Bradford. [4]

Inventory was taken on Nathan's estate on 9 October 1742 and Abigail, his executrix, took oath to it on 29 February 1742. Nathan wrote his will on 4 August 1743, but there was was controversy over whether he had intended to change it. He mentioned his wife, his brothers John and Benjamin, his sister Huldah, the wife of Ebenezer Reed, and his brother Caleb. The will of Nathan Blodgett, gentleman, was proved on 4 August 1743. [2]
