Thomas Wight died on 17 March 1673/4 in Medfield. [1] He married first Alice ___. He married second Lydia (Eliot) Penniman on 7 (December?) 1665 in Medfield. [1][2] Lydia, the daugher of Bennet Eliot of Widford and Nazeing, Essex, was baptized on 1 July 1610 in Nazeing. [1][2] She died not long before 19 July 1676. [1] She married first James Penniman on 26 July 1631 in High Laver, Essex. [1][2] James, the son of James and Annis (Wilcock) Penniman, was baptized on 29 July 1599 in Chipping Ongar, Essex and died on 26 December 1664 in Braintree. [2]

Alice died on 15 July 1665 in Medfield. [3]

Thomas was admitted an inhabitant of Dedham on 18 July 1637. [3] Thomas and Alice were admitted to the church there on 6 September 1640. [3][4] Thomas was a freeman on 8 October 1640. [3] He was a selectman for six years beginning in 1641. [3]

Thomas made his will on 7 February 1673/3; it was proved on 2 April 1674. It refers an agreement with his present wife Lydia in the keeping of her brother, Mr. John Eliot, Pastor of the Church of Christ in Roxbury. He left his eldest son Henry Wight of Dedham his real estate there and his two biggest books. He left his son Thomas woodland and swamp and half his clothing. He left his son Samuel meadow in Medfield and half his clothes. He left his daughter Mary, the wife of Thomas Ellis, his bed and half of his brass, pewter, and iron pots. He left his son Ephraim his house and lot, barn, outhouses and other land. He left his grandchild Juda Ellis, the daughter of Mary Ellis, five pounds. He named his sons Henry and Ephraim his executors. The will was witnessed by George Barbour and Henry Leland, who testified on 2 April 1674. [3]

The inventory of Thomas's estate was presented on 2 April 1674. It amounted to £463-15-01. [5]

Children of Thomas Wight and Alice Unknown:

i. Henry Wight was apparently born by 1625/6. He died on 27 February 1680 in Dedham. [3] He He married Jane Goodenow of Sudbury. [3] She died on 16 May 1684 in Dedham. [3]

Henry was admitted to the church in Dedham on 14 August 1646 and was a freeman on 26 May 1647. [3]

ii. John Wight was apparently born by 1631/2. He died on 28 September 1653 in Medfield. [3] He married Ann ___. She married second Isaac, the son of William Bullard of Dedham, on 11 April 1655. [3] He died on 11 May 1676 in Dedham. [3]

He was a freeman on 18 May 1653.

iii. Thomas Wight died before 25 September 1690, when inventory was taken on his estate. [3] He married Mehitable Cheney. [3] She was born on 1 June 1643. [3]

iv. Mary Wight died on 7 March 1692/3 in Medfield. She married Thomas Ellis.

v. Samuel Wight was born on 5 February 1639/40 in Dedham. [4] He was baptized there on 6 September 1640. [4] He died there on 21 December 1716. [3] He married Hannah Albee of Medfield on 25 March 1663. [3] She died on 24 April 1723 in Medfield. [3]

vi. Ephraim Wight was born on 27 January 1645/6 in Dedham. [4] He was baptized there on 8 February 1645/6. [4] He died on 26 February 1722/3 in Medfield. [6] He married Lydia Morse on 2 March 1677/8 in Medfield. [6] Lydia, the daughter of Daniel and Lydia (Fisher) Morse, was baptized on 13 April 1645 in Dedham and died on 14 July 1722 in Medfield. [6]
