JONATHAN MOREY (c. 1632–1708), son of Roger Mowry and Mary Johnson

MARY BARTLETT (say 1633–1692), daughter of Robert Bartlett and Mary Warren

Lieutenant Jonathan Morey was the son of Roger Mowry of Rhode Island and his wife Mary, the daughter of John and Mary Johnson of Roxbury. [1] He was born about 1632. He was baptized on 2 April 1637 in Salem. [1] He died on 19 May 1708, age 75. [2] He married, as her second husband, Mary Bartlett on 8 July 1659 in Plymouth. [2][3][4] He married second Hannah (Pincon) (Young) Wetherell. [1] Hannah, the daughter of Thomas Pincon, was born on 4 December 1642 in Scituate. [1] She married first George Young on 15 January 1661 in Scituate. [1] She married second John Wetherell.

Mary, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Warren) Bartlett and granddaughter of Richard Warren of the Mayflower, was born say 1633. [4] She died on 26 September 1692 in Plymouth. [5] She married first Richard Foster of Plymouth on 10 September 1651 in Plymouth. [1][2][4]

On 27 June/7 July 1659, Robert Bartlett took a ten-year lease on the lands of his late son-in-law Richard Foster, agreeing to pay Richard's son Benjamin, aged about four, eight pounds when he came of age. [6] The same day, the widow Mary Foster and Jonathan Morey entered into a prenuptial agreement for bringing up Benjamin. [6][7, 27 June] On Friday, 8/18 July Mary and Jonathan were married in Plymouth. [6]

Jonathan Morey of Plymouth made his will on 24 February 1699/1700; it was proved on 16 June 1708. He left "all that part of my estate which I added under my hand, he has already the promise of it" to his eldest son. He left a bequest to his wife Hannah, the remainder of his estate was left in equal thirds to his wife Hannah, his son John, and his daughter Hannah Bumpus. However, if his son Jonathan would pay 25 dollars in equal shares to his wife Hannah, son John, and daughter Hannah, Jonathan could have his remaining land. [8]

It is sometimes claimed that Jonathan and Mary had a daughter Mary, but there is no record of this. [1]
