Generation 1

Robert Warren was possibly the son of the John Waryn who was taxed in 1524 in Wyston. He was born perhaps about 1485 and died after 29 October 1544 when he made his will. he had a wife Margaret. Children: (i) James, yeoman of Wissington, was born perhaps about 1515 and made his will in 1594. He had a wife Annys. (ii) Lawrence. (iii) Thomas, yeoman of Stoke Nayland, was born perhaps about 1520 and died after 13 March 1559/60. He had a wife Marian. (iv) Ann married Unknown Lorkin. (v) John. (vi) William.

Generation 2

John Warren, husbandman of Nayland nexte Stoke, Co. Suffolk, was born about 1525. He died between 21 April 1576, when he made his will and 5 June 1576 when it was proved. He married an unknown first wife. He married second Agnes (or Anne) Howlet on 5 September 1563. He probably married third Margaret Firmety on 30 January 1568/9 in Great Horkesley. She was buried on 19 April 1576. Children of John and his first wife: (i) John "the elder" was born about 1550 and was buried on 22 May 1583. (ii) John. (iii) Richard was buried on 30 September 1612. Children of John and his second wife: (iv) Agnes (or Anne) was baptized on 8 October 1564. Children of John and his third wife: (v) Margaret was born about 1569/71. She was buried on 15 April 1571.

John Scarlett of Nayland was born probably about 1525/30. He was buried on 11 November 1571 in Nayland. He married Margaret Martin on 26 January 1554/5 in Layham, Suffolk. She must have died between 1555 and 1558. He later married Emma Unknown. She later married Thomas Parish on 13 September 1574 in Nayland. Children: (i) John was born about 1555 in Nayland and married about 1577 Mary Unknown. (ii) Alice was born perhaps in 1557 and was buried on 2 March 1560/1 in Nayland. (ii) Joan was baptized on 16 May 1559. There is no further record of her. (iii) Elizabeth. (iv) James was baptized on 11 January 1563/4. There is no further record of him. (v) Richard was born perhaps in 1566 and was buried on 20 December 1579. (vi) Thomas was baptized on 29 September 1568 and was buried on 11 September 1579. (vii) Frances was born probably in 1570/1 and was buried on 17 October 1580.

Generation 3

John Warren, cardmaker of Nayland, was born about 1555. He made his will on 27 March 1613 and died a few months later. He married first Elizabeth Scarlett on 4 October 1584 in Nayland. He married second Rose Unknown. She was buried on 11 August 1610. He married third Rose (Brand) Riddlesdale, the widow of Richard Riddlesdale, on 23 April 1611. Rose married third Richardford Grymes on 20 November 1617 in Boxford.

Elizabeth Scarlett was baptized on 30 August 1561. She was buried on 27 March 1602/3.

Children of John Warren and Elizabeth Scarlett, baptized at Nayland: (i) John (ii) Daniel was baptized on 13 November 1586 and buried on 13 February 1596/7. (iii) Nathaniel was baptized on 7 September 1589. He married Mary Gonne on 12 September 1618. (iv) Amos was baptized on 14 March 1590/1. (v) Elizabeth was born perhaps 1592/3. (vii) Joshua was baptized on 2 April 1594. (viii) Joseph was baptized on 19 December 1596 [!] and buried on 22 July 1596 [!]. (ix) Mary was baptized on 22 March 1598/9. (x) Thomas was baptized on 22 February 1600/1. He married Mary Rancke on 15 January 1638/9 in Nayland.

John Warren was baptized on 1 August 1585 in Nayland. [1] He died on 13 December 1667, age 82, in Watertown. [2, pt. 3: 29] He had a wife Margaret. She died on 6 November 1662 in Watertown. [2, pt. 3: 24]

John Warren came to New England in 1630 and settled in Watertown. [3]

On 14 November 1635 it was agreed that John Warren and Abraham would lay out all the highways in Watertown and see they were kept in repair. [2, pt. 1: 2]

On 30 November 1635 John was one of 13 freemen chosen to order the affairs of the town the coming year. On 6 (10) 1639 he was one of 12 freemen chosen to order the affairs the coming year. [2, pt. 1: 2, 5]

John was granted a 60-acre parcel in the Fourth Division of the Watertown Great Division on 25 July 1630. [2, pt. 2: 5] He was granted 13 acres in the 28 February 1636 division of plowland and Beaverbrook Plains. [2, pt. 2: 7] He was granted 13 acres in the 26 June 1637 division of the Remote or West Pine Meadows. [2, pt. 2: 9] In the first inventory of grants and possessions in Watertown, John had a 12-acre homestall, nine acres of upland, three acres of meadow, 13 acres of plowland in the Further Plain, 13 acres of meadows in the Remote Meadows, 16-1/2 acres of upland beyond the Further Plain, 60 acres of upland and a farm consisting of 162 acres of upland. In October of 1651 John and Thomas Arnold were fined for an offence against the laws concerning baptism. On 14 April 1658/9 they were warned for not attending public worship. On 4 April 1654 he was fined for neglect of public worship. He may have been a baptist. [4]

John Warren, Sr. gave left his son Daniel the 16 acres of land that he lived on in his will. He left his daughter Mary Bigelow 16 acres and his daughter Elizabeth Knapp, the wife of James Knapp the 16 plowed acres in their possession. [C, 491]

i. Susan Warren was baptized on 14 April 1612 in Nayland.

ii Mary Warren was baptized on 23 April 1615 in Nayland. She was buried there on 17 December 1622.

iii. Elizabeth Warren was baptized on 25 June 1618 in Nayland. She was buried there on 25 November 1622.

iv. Sarah Warren was baptized on 20 April 1620 in Nayland. She was buried there on 7 September 1621.

v. John Warren was baptized on 12 May 1622 in Nayland. He died in January/February 1702/3 in Watertown. [1] He married Micael (Jennison) Bloys on 11 July 1667. [1] Micael, the daughter of Robert Jennison and widow of Richard Bloys died on 14 July 1713 in Watertown. [1 ]

vi. Mary Warren was baptized on 12 September 1624 in Nayland. She married John Bigelow.

vii. Daniel Warren was baptized on 25 February 1626/7 in Nayland. He married Mary Barron on 10 December 1650. [1] Mary, the daughter of Ellis and Grace Barron, died on 13 February 1715/6. [1]

On 30 December 1662 a ten or 12 acre parcel of land was laid out for Daniel in Watertown in satisfaction of land his father bought from the town. [2, pt. 1: 75]

viii. Elizabeth Warren was baptized on 21 July 1629 in Nayland. She married James Knapp.
