Thomas Tenney's English Ancestry [1]

Henry Tenney of Great Limber, Lincolnshire was born say 1510 and probably died shortly before 12 October 1558, when administration on his estate was granted to his widow Criane.

Thomas Tenney was born say 1540 and died between 22 June 1593, when he made his will, and 23 November 1593, when it was probated. He married Margaret Wood, the daughter of Edward and Joan Wood on 18 July 1563 in Great Limber. She was born say 1543, probably in Great Limber, and was buried there on 26 March 1598. Thomas was a yeoman.

John Tenney was baptized in April 1567 in Great Limber and buried on 30 October 1644 in Riby, Lincolnshire. He married Ursula Mumby on 29 October 1599 in Brocklesby, Lincolnshire. She was buried on 4 April 1642 in Great Lumber. John was a husbandman.

i. Ensign Thomas Tenney was baptized on 25 June1615 in Great Limber.
ii. Deacon William Tenney was baptized on 23 December 1616 in Great Limber. He died on 5 August 1685 in Rowley. He married Katherine ___. She died on 31 October 1700 in Bradford.

Ensign Thomas Tenney was baptized on 25 June 1615 in Great Limber, Lincolnshire. [1] He died on 20 February 1699/1700 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts. [1][2] He married first Ann Mighill, the sister of Thomas Mighill, presumably in New England. [1] He married second the widow Elizabeth Parrat on 24 February 1657[/8?] in Rowley. [3] Elizabeth was the widow of Francis Parrat and is "said to have been" the daughter of Mr. John and Elizabeth (Coole) Northend of Ripplingham in the parish of Rowley, Yorkshire, born about 1612. [1]

Ann Mighill was buried on 26 September 1657 in Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts. [3]

Brothers Thomas and William Tenney emigrated to New England in 1638, probably in the company of Reverend Ezekiel Rogers. [1]

Children of Thomas and Ann Tenney:

i. Deacon John Tenney was born on 14 December 1640 in Rowley. [3] He married Mercy Parrat on 26 February 1663 in Rowley. [3] Marcy,the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Parrat of Rowley, was born on 23 July 1646. [2] She was buried on 27 November 1667 in Rowley. [3] John married second Susanna Woodbury on 2 December 1668 in Bradford. [2] Susanna, the daughter of Humphrey and Elizabeth Woodbury, was born on 4 February 1648 and died on 9 April 1716. [2]

ii. Hannah Tenney was born on 15 March 1642 in Rowley. [3] She married as his second wife Joseph Johnson. [2]

iii. Mercy Tenney was born on 17 June 1644 in Rowley. She died on 15 August 1716 in Bradford. She married Thomas Hardy.

iv. Thomas Tenney was born on 16 July 1648 in Rowley. [3] He died, "an old man," who died on 7 August 1730 in Rowley. [2][3] He married Margaret Hidden on 8 September 1680 on 8 September 1680. [2] Margaret, the daughter of Andrew and Sarah Hidden, was born on 28 July 1659. [2]

v. James Tenney was born on 16 August 1650 in Rowley. [3] He married Abigail Lambert on 3 October 1684 in Rowley. [3] Abigail, the daughter of John and Abigail (Hutchinson) Lambert, was born on 9 December 1665 and died on 3 March 1756. [2]

vi. Daniel Tenney was born on 16 March 1653 in Rowley. [3] He married first Elizabeth Stickney on 17 or 21 July 1680 in Bradford. [4] She died on 28 April 1694 in Rowley. [3] He married second Mary Hardy, the daughter of John and Mary (Jackman) Hardy of Bradford. [1] He married third Elizabeth, the daughter of Joshua Woodman, after November 1712 (intention) in Newbury. [2] She died on 5 September 1749. [2}
