John, the son of John, Jr. and Rebecca Clark, was born on 17 November 1655 in Saybrook, Connecticut. [1] Major John Clark died on 17 February 1735/6 in Saybrook. [1] He married Rebeckah Beamon on 17 September 1684 in Saybrook. [1, "Beamont"][2]

According to Jacobus, John was the son of John and Rebecca (Porter) Clark. [2]

John is buried in the Cyprus Cemetery in Old Saybrook. His gravestone says: [3]

Here lyes buried the body of Major John Clark who departed this life Feb 17th 1736 in ye 81st year of his age.

Rebecca, the daughter of William and Lydia (Danforth) Beamon, was born on 7 September 1659. [2]

Lieutenant John Clark of Saybrook was a deputy in October 1694. [4]

The court granted Captain John Clark of Saybrook, administrator of the estate of Abimeleck, son of Joshua Sachem, power to sell some of Abimeleck's land to satisfy his debts in May 1705. [4]

Captain John Clark was a deputy in May 1706 and May 1708. [4] John was confirmed captain of second company in Saybrook in October 1708. [4] He was confirmed major of the regiment of New London milita, but was to continue commanding his company in Saybrook, in May 1709. Major John Clark was a deputy for Saybrook in April 1711, June 1711, May 1712, May 1715, October 1716, September 1717, October 1720, and May 1724, and May 1728. [4]

John Clark of Saybrook made his will on 12 February 1735/6 . He left his estate to his wife Rebecca; his son John; his son Joseph and his son Daniel; his son Nathaniel; his son Samuel and his son Stephen; his granddaughters Abigail and Deborah Lynde; and Hephzibah Tully. His witnesses, Samuel Beamon, Richard Dickenson and John Tully, testified on 9 March 1735/6. [5]

i. Abigail Clark was born on 23 September 1685. She died on 6 February 1688/9 in Saybrook. [1]

ii. Rebecca Clark was born on 25 May 1687. She probably died by 12 February 1735/6, when she was not mentioned in her father's will. She married Samuel Lynde on 4 April 1710 in Saybrook. [1] Samuel might be the son of Nathaniel and Susanna Lynde, born 29 October 1689 in Saybrook. [1]

iii. John Clark was born on 1 or 11 June 1689. He married Sarah Jones on 6 May 1712 in Saybrook. [1]

iv. Joseph Clark was born on 16 January 1690/1. He died on 12 March 1691 in Saybrook. [1]

v. Joseph Clark was born on 23 January 1691/2. He married Lydia Grinell.

vi. Nathaniel Clark was born on 19 July 1694. Nathaniel of Saybrook married MaryVrenne of Norwich on 10 May 1715 in Saybrook. [1]

vii. Temperance Clark was born on 20 July 1698. She died on 7 March 1705/6 in Saybrook. [1]

viii. Samuel Clark was born on 26 June 1702. He married Mary Minor on 19 July 1722 in Saybrook. [1]
