Benjamin Sanborn (1668–1740), son of Lieutenant John Sanborn and Mary Tucke

Sarah Worcester (1667–1720), daugher of Timothy Worcester and Elizabeth Unknown


Benjamin Sanborn was born on 20 December 1668. [1] He died in 1740. [2] He married first Sarah Worcester. He married second as her third husband Meribah (Page) (Shaw) Tilton, the daughter of Deacon Francis Page and the widow of Joseph Shaw and Samuel Tilton. [2] Benjamin married third as her second husband Abigail (Gove) Dalton, the daughter of Captain Edward Gove and widow of Philemon Dalton. [2] Abigail married third James Prescott. [2]

Sarah was born on 15: 6m: 1667. [3] She died on 29 January 1720. [2]

Benjamin apparently lived first in Newbury and afterwards in Hampton Falls. [2]

Benjamin made his will in October 1740. He mentioned his wife Abigail and his children Mary Healey, Joanna Clough (deceased), Dorothy Moulton, Theodate Sanborn, Abigail Colby, Jemima Stacey, Susanna (unmarried), Judith Quimby, Ebenezer and Benjamin. [2]

Children of Benjamin Sanborn and Sarah Unknown:

i. Mary Sanborn was born on 27 October 1690. [2] She married William, the son of Samuel Healey of Hampton Falls, on 13 January 1716. [2]

ii. Joanna Sanborn was born on 1 December 1692. [2] She died before October 1740. She married Cornelius Clough of Hampton Falls on 13 January 1714. [2]

iii. Sarah Sanborn was born on 30 October 1694. [2] She died on 26 April 1756. [2] She married Reuben Sanborn on 28 December 1714. [2] Reuben was her first cousin, the son of Joseph Sanborn and grandson of Lieutenant John Sanborn. He was born on 18 May 1692 and died on 22 April 1756. [4]

iv. Theodate Sanborn was born in 1696. [2] She died on 10 October 1756. [2] She married Jonathan Sanborn on 31 December 1719. [2] Jonathan was her half first cousin, the son of Captain Jonathan Sanborn and son of Lieutenant John Sanborn. He was baptized on 28 April 1700 in Kingston. [5] He died between 7 May 1760, when he made his will, and 25 June 1760, when it was proved. He married second Hannah Griffen on 8 November 1757.

vi. Dorothy Sanborn was born on 27 October 1698. [2] She died on 11 September 11757. [2] She married first Jethro, the son of Nathaniel Bachiler on 15 May 1721. Nathaniel was the son of Nathaniel (Stephen) Bachiler. She married second Abraham Moulton of Hampton, son of John Moulton, on 11 September 1757. [2]

vi. Abigail Sanborn was born on 22 July 1700. She married Ensign Enoch Colby.

vii. Jemima Sanborn was born on 17 May 1702. [2] She married first Unknown Stacey. [2] She married second Unknown Lord of Ipswich. [2]

viii. Susanna Sanborn was born on 20 September 1704. [2] She died on 21 July 1776. [2] She married Joshua, the son of Philemon Blake of Hampton. [2]

ix. Benjamin Sanborn was born in 1706. [2] He died young. [2]

x. Judith Sanborn was born on 26 October 1708. [2] She married Robert Quimby. [2]

xi. Benjamin Sanborn was born on 7 November 1712 in Hampton Falls. [6] He died in 1752 in Hampton Falls. [6] He married first Hannah, the daughter of David Tilton of Hampton Falls, on 27 December 1733. [6] He married second Dorothy (Tilton) Prescott on 25 October 1736. [6] Dorothy was the daughter of Jethro Tilton of Hampton Falls and the widow of James Presctoo of Hampton Falls.

Children of Benjamin Sanborn and Abigail Gove:

xii. Ebenezer Sanborn was born on 10 October 1723. [2] He died between March 1745/[6?] and 26 March 1746.

He made his will in March 1745/[6?] and 26 March 1746, when it was proved. He mentioned his kinsman Reuben Sanborn, his mother Abigail, his sisters, including Susanna and Abigail Prescott. [2]
