John Knowles (d. 1705)
Jemima Asten (d. aft. 1693), Frances Asten and Isabella Bland
John Knowles died on 5 December 1705. [1] He married Jemima Asten on 10: 5m: 1660 in Hampton, New Hampshire. [2]
Jemima was baptized on 24: 11m: 1640 in Hampton. [3]
Jemima is referred to Jemima Knowles in the will of her stepfather Thomas Levet and in the will of her mother. [4]
John Knowles, Sr. of Hampton made his will on 16 March 1693, saying that he was weak because of age. He mentions his sons John and Simon; "their mother, my now wife"; his daughters Sarah and Hannah. He named John his executor. His will was proved on 31 December 1705. [5]
Children of John Knowles and Jemima Asten:
i. John Knowles was born on 6: 12m: 1661 in Hampton. [6] He died between 5 December 1733 and 4 January 1733/4. He married Susanna Unknown. [7] Susanna died in 1745, age 82. [7]
John Knowles of Hampton, sick and weak, made his will on 5 December 1733. He mentions his wife Susanna and children and grandchildren. His will was proved on 4 January 1733/4. [8]
ii. Ezekiel Knowles was born on 19: 6m: 1663 in Hampton. [6] He died on 10 November 1666 in Hampton. [9]
iii. James Knowles was born on 20: 9m: 1665 in Hampton. [6] He died on 1 February 1681, age 17, in Hampton. [10]
iv. Simon Knowles was born on 22: 9m: 1667 in Hampton. He married first Rachel Unknown. He married second Rachel Joy.
v. Joseph Knowles was born on 11: 4m: 1672 in Hampton. [6] He probably died by 16 November 1693, when his father did not refer to him in his will.
vi. Sarah Knowles was born on 17 February 1676 in Hampton. [6]
Sarah is mentioned in her grandmother Isabel (Bland) (Asten) Levet's will. [4]
vii. Hannah Knowles was born on 18 February 1678 in Hampton [6]
