Unknown Eggleton

Jane Unknown (c. 1600–1687)


Jane ___ was born about 1600. She died on 10 March 1678 in Woburn as the widow Cole. [1][2] She married first ___ Eggleton. [1] She married second James Britton. [1] He died in 1655. She married third Isaac Cole in 1659. [1] Isaac was born about 1607. He died on 10 June 1674 in Woburn. [2][3] He married first Joan Jones on 25 July 1631 in St. Peter, Sandwich, co. Kent. [3]

James Britton might be the James "Bitton" who came to New England in 1635 on the Increase, the same ship that Samuel Blodgett and his parents came on. [4]

In 1674 John Nutting and Samuel Blodgett called Jane, the widow of Isaac Cole, their mother-in-law. [1]

On 6 October 1674, Jane Cole, relict of Isaac Cole, who had died leaving an estate worth 120 pounds, 40 pounds in movables, asked the court for a competency to maintain her in old age, she being about 74. The court ordered her to have 40 pounds. [2]

Children of Unknown Eggleton and Jane Unknown:

i. Sarah Eggleton married John Nutting on 28 August 1650. [5] He was killed by the Indians in King Philip's war on 13 Mar 1676 in Groton. [6]

After her husband was killed, Sarah came to Woburn to live with Ruth and Samuel. [5]

ii. Ruth Eggleton died on 14 October 1703 in Woburn. She married Samuel Blodgett.
