WILLIAM NICKERSON (1701–1763), son of William Nickerson and Deliverance Lombard

SARAH COVELL (d. aft. 1745), daughter of Joseph Covell and Hannah Bassett


William Nickerson, the son of William and Deliverance (Lombard) Nickerson was born on 15 May 1701 in Chatham. [1] He died "from a canoe" on April 1763 off of Nansett Beach. [2] He married Sarah Covell, the daughter of Joseph Covell.

Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Covell and his second wife Hannah Bassett. [3]

i. Absalom Nickerson was born on 12 November 1724. He married Sarah Unknown, perhaps Sarah Spinks. [1]

Absalom was the brother of Stephen and Gideon, of Mercy who married Heman Kenney and of Elizabeth who married Archelaus Smith. [5]

ii. Stephen Nickerson was born on 1 October 1726. He married first Dorcas Godfrey. [1] He married second the widow Martha Adams on 17 March 1782 in Barrington. [1]

Stephen Nickerson was an early settler of Barrington. [2]

iii. Deliverance Nickerson was born on 11 June 1728.

iv. James Nickerson was born on 24 April 1730.

v. Mercy Nickerson was born on 7 May 1732. She married first Heman Kenney, the son of Nathan Kenney and Mercy Smith on 25 August 1752 in Chatham. [1][2] He died on 4 February 1775 in Barrington. [1] She married second Joshua Atwood. [2]

vi. Elizabeth Nickerson was born on 15 May 1735. She died on 2 April 1828. She married Archelaus Smith.

vii. William Nickerson was born on 24 February 1736.

viii. Lombard Nickerson was born on 14 April 1739. He died on 14 February 1804, age 64, and is buried in the Chatham Old Burial Ground. [6] He married Eunice Ryder on 22 February 1759. [7] Eunice, the daughter of Nathaniel and Desire (Godfrey) Ryder, was born about 1737. [7] She died in Chatham between 3 December 1808, when she made her will, and 24 December 1808, when witnesses deposed. [7]

ix. Joshua Nickerson married, as her second husband, Deborah Ryder on 15 May 1763 in Chatham. Deborah, this sister of his brother Lombard's wife, was born about 1735. [7] She died by December 1808. [7] She married first Daniel Rogers on 27 April 1758 in Chatham. [7] She married third Thomas Doty of Chatham. [7]

x. Gideon Nickerson was born on 14 March 1745. [1] married Sarah Bearse. [1] Sarah was the daugher of Benjamin and Jean (Collins) Bearse. [1]

Gideon Nickerson was an early settler of Barrington.
