BENJAMIN ROCKWOOD (b. 1651), son of Nicholas Rocket and Joan Unknown

JUDITH ELLIS (b. 1658), daughter of Thomas Ellis and Mary Wight


Benjamin, the son of Nicholas and Joan Rockwood, was born on 8 September 1651 in Medfield, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. [1] He married Judith Ellis on 27 September 1678 in Medfield. [1]

Judith, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Ellis, was born on 15 April 1658. [1]

Benjamin may be one of the Benjamin Rockwoods who were original signers of the covenant of the First Congregational Church in Franklin in 1737/8. [2] The other might have been his nephew.

Benjamin and Judith moved to Wrentham, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

"At a Church meeting August. 25. 1738 ... Voted, That Benjamin Rockwood and Benjamin Rockwood junr. who were among those that were dismissed at first from the first Chh in Wrentham in order to form a 2d Church be admitted to sign the Covenant." [2]

Children of Benjamin Rockwood and Judith Ellis:

i. Bethiah Rockwood was born on 24 July 1679 in Medfield. [1] She married William Man on 1 December 1701 in Wrentham. [3][4] William, the son of Samuel and Esther (Ware) Man, was born on 1 May 1679 in Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. [4]

ii. Judith Rockwood was born on 17 March 1681 in Wrentham. She married first John George. She married second Eleazar Metcalf.

iii. Mary Rockwood was born on 2 October 1683 in Wrentham. [3] She might be the Mary who married Samuel Turner on 7 March 1710 in Medfield. [1]

iv. Patience Rockwood was born on 20 May 1686 in Wrentham. [3] She married Joseph Curtis of Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts on 4 July 1715 in Dorchester. [3, also recorded in Norton and Dorchester]

v. Hezekiah Rockwood was born on 26 August 1688 in Wrentham. [3] He died there in 1689. [3]
