English Ancestry of Thomas Richardson

Thomas Richardson was buried on 8 January 1633 in West Mill. [1] Thomas of Standon married Katherine Duxford of West Mill on 24 August 1590 in West Mill, Hertfordshire. [1] She was buried on 10 March 1631 in West Mill. [1]

Thomas Richardson, husbandman of West Mill, made his will on 4 March 1630. He left his wife Katherine a little close of pasture called hunnymeade, consisting of half an acre and all his movable goods for life. After that they were to go to his son Samuel. He left his son John 40 shillings, his son James 12 pence, his son Thomas three pounds. He named Samuel his executor. [1]

i. Elizabeth Richardson was baptized on 13 January 1593/4. She was buried on 22 June 1630. [3] She married Francis Wyman on 1 May 1617. [3] He died between 12 September 1658 and 14 February 1658/9.

Francis Wyman, husbandman of West Mill, made his will on 15 September 1658. It was proved on 12 February 1658/9. [3] He mentioned, among among others, his wife Jane and sons Francis and John.

Elizabeth's sons Francis and John Wyman were tanners in Charlestown and Woburn, Massachusetts. [3]

ii. John Richardson was baptized on 7 November 1596.

iii. Ezekiel Richardson

Ezekiel's baptism is not recorded in West Mill and he is not named in his father's will. He is identified as a son through his will, which names his brothers Thomas and Samuel.

iv. James Richardson was baptized on 6 April 1600.

v. Samuel Richardson was baptized on 22 December 1602 (or 1604). He died intestate on 23 March 1657/8. [3] He married Joanna Thake in Much Hormead, Herts. in 1662. [3] She died after 20 June 1666, when she made her will.

Samuel went to New England in 1635/6. [3] He was granted a house-plot in Charlestown in 1637. [3] He was admitted to the church on 18 February 1637/8 and took the freeman's oath on 2 May 1638. [3]

vi. Margaret Richardson was baptized on 19 April 1607.

vi. Thomas Richardson was baptized on 3 July 1608.

Thomas, the son of Thomas and Katherine (Duxford) Richardson, was baptized on 3 July 1608 in West Mill, Hertfordshire. [1] He died on 28 August 1651 in Woburn. [2] He married Mary ___.

Mary ___ died on 19 May 1670. [3] She married second Michael Bacon on 26 October 1655. [3]

Mary joined the Charlestown church on 21 February 1635/6—the earliest record of the Richardson family of West Mill in America. [1][3] Thomas joined on 18 February 1637/8. [1]

On 1 July 1636 Thomas and Samuel Richardson were on a committee to lay out lots of land in Charlestown. [1]

In 1640, Thomas, his brothers Samuel and Ezekiel, and four others were on a committee to lay out the town of Woburn, within the bounds of Charlestown. The were all original members of the church there in 1642. [3]

Inventory was taken on the estate of Thomas Richardson of Woburn on 22 September 1651. He had personal property valued at £133-17-04 and a house and 100 acres worth £213-14-04. His inventory papers say that he left three sons, ages eight, six and eight months, and four daughters, ages 13, 11, four and two. [4]

Administration on Thomas's estate was granted to his widow Mary in 1651. [2]

Children of Thomas and Mary Richardson:

i. Mary Richardson was born about 1638. She married John Baldwin on 15 May 1655 in Billerica. [2]

ii. Sarah Richardson was born about 1640. married Michael Bacon, Jr. on 22 March 1660 in Billerica. [2]

iii. Isaac Richardson was born on 24 May 1643 in Woburn. [2] He married Deborah Fuller on 19 June 1667 in Woburn. [2]

In June 1679 Isaac was convicted of great inhumanity towards his apprentice "Joseph Andras, by burning of his breech at ye fire." He was ordered to pay 40 shillings and the cost of a cure. The selectmen were to dispose of the boy to some other master. [2]

Isaac Richardson, yeoman of Woburn, made his will on 28 February 1689; his witnesses testified on 1 October 1689. He named his wife Deborah; son Jonathan; two eldest daughters; sons Joseph, Benjamin, and David; daughter Mary; youngest daughter Elizabeth. He named his wife and son Jonathan his executors and friends Thomas Richardson and Thomas Fuller his overseers. Inventory was taken on 23 September 1689 and exhibited on 1 October 1689; it amounted to £445-18-00. [4]

iv. Thomas Richardson was born on 4 October 1645 in Woburn [2] He died on 25 February 1709/10 in Billerica. [3] He married first Mary Stephenson on 5 January 1670 in Billerica. [2] He married second Sarah, the widow of Thomas Patten, on 29 December 1690 in Billerica. [3]

v. Ruth Richardson was born on 14 April 1647 in Woburn. She died by 19 July 1699, probably in Salem. She probably married Thomas Fuller.

vi. Phebe Richardson was born on 24 January 1649 in Woburn. [2] There is apparently no further record.

vii. Nathaniel Richardson was born on 2 January 1651 in Woburn. [2] Nathaniel, Sr. died on 4 December 1714 in Woburn. [2] He married Mary ___. Mary, the widow of Nathaniel, died on 22 December 1719 in Woburn. [2]

Nathaniel was wounded in the Great Swamp Fight in King Philip's war on 19 December 1675. [3]

Mary Richardson posted bond on her husband's estate on 24 January 1714/5. Inventory on his personal estate was taken in December 1714 and exhibited on 24 January 1714/5. [4]
