William Stickney was buried on 25 January 1664[/5?]. He married Elizabeth Dawson on 29 November 1628 in Cottingham, Yorkshire. [1][2]

William's gravestone (probably a later memorial) says:

William, b. Frampton, Eng., 1592, was with w. Elizabeth of Boston in N[ew] Eng. 1638, and Rowley, 1639, d. ----, 1665.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Thomas Dawson and Elizabeth Burrell, was baptized on 22 February 1605/6 in Cottingham, Yorkshire. [1]

Ezekiel Rogers, a Yorkshire minister, came with about 20 families to Boston in 1638. On 13 March 1638/9 land between Ipswich and Newbury was laid out. Settlement began in April 1639 and the town of Rowley was incorporated that September. William and Elizabeth were part of Rogers's company. [2]

Shortly after December 1638, eight people joined the church in Boston, including William and Elizabeth Stickney. On 9 November 1639 William was dismissed to the church in Rowley. [2]

William was a freeman on 7 October 1640. [2]

William was fined 3s. 4d. for striking Goodman Broadstreet's son at the March 1646 court in Ipswich. [3, 1: 94]

William was on the trial jury at the March 1652, March 1654, September 1655, March 1658, and March 1664 courts in Ipswich. [3, 1: 247, 328, 397; 2: 61; 3: 119] He was sworn clerk of the market for Rowley on March 1653. [3, 1: 279] He was on the grand jury at the September 1660 and March 1662 courts in Ipswich. [3, 2: 225, 347]

William Stickney of Rowley made his will on 21 January 1664[/5?]; inventory was presented on 28 March 1665. He left his wife Elizabeth the use of his house, barn, orchard, land within five miles of Rowley, meadow in Ipswich, two cows, and one-third of his household things for life. He left his son Samuel only ten pounds, as he had already made provision for him. He left his son Amos only five pounds, commenting that he had at no time been beneficial to his estate, he had procured him a trade, and already made some provision for him. He left the rest of his estate to his other six children: John, Andrew, Thomas, Mary, Faith, and Mercy. He named his trusty friends Maximilian Jewett and Samuel Brockelbanke his overseers. [3, 3: 357]

On 15 July 1727 John Stickney requested that his brother Moses Stickney of Newbury and Richard Dole of Rowley administer the estate of his uncle Andrew Stickney of Rowley. He said that he was unwell. [Presumably John and Moses were the sons of Andrew's brother Amos.] On 18 July 1727 Elizabeth Stickney of Rowley requested that Moses Stickney of Newbury administer the estate of her late husband Andrew of Rowley. She said that she was too old. On 19 July [undated, but presumably 1727], Moses Stickney and Richard Dole, administrators of Andrew's estate, posted bond. [7]

vii. Thomas Stickney (twin) was born 3 March 1646 in Rowley. [6] He died on 17 July 1714, age 69, in Bradford. [9] Thomas Stickney married Mehitable Unknown. She was probably the daughter of Henry Kimball of Wenham. [4] Mehitable, the wife of Thomas, died on 7 December 1689 in Bradford. [9]
