JOHN SAWYER (1676–1756), son of Samuel Sawyer and Mary Emery
SARAH WELLS (b. say 1676), daughter of John Wells and Sarah Littlefield
John, the son of Samuel Sawyer and Mary (Emery) of Newbury, was born on 15 March 1675/6 in Newbury. [1] He died on 27 March 1756 in Newbury. [1] He married first [as her second husband] Mary Merrill on 25 December 1700 in Newbury. [1][2] She died on 21 February 1707/8, age 34, in Newbury. [1] Mary, the daughter of Isaac and Rebecca Brown, married first Peter Merrill. [2] Peter, the son of Nathaniel Merrill, was born on 20 August 1667 and died on 20 March 1696/7. [2] John married second [as her second husband] Sarah Sibley of Salem after 20 November 1710 (intention) in Newbury or Salem. [1][3][4]
Sarah was the daughter of John and Sarah (Littlefield) Wells. [4] She was born say 1676. She married first Samuel Sibley on 13 September 1695 in Salem. [3][4] Samuel was killed in the 29 August 1708 Indian attack on Haverhill. [4]
Sarah's mother refers to Sarah as Sarah Sawyer in her will of 27 April 1634, and she left bequest to her sons Johnathan and Samuel Sibley. [5]
Inventory on the estate of Samuel Sibley was taken on 8 December 1710 and amounted to £97-16-10. John Sawyer and Sarah Sawyer alias Sibley—former widow of Samuel Sibley, late of Salem—of Newbury posted bond on Samuel's estate on [illegible] July 1712. Sarah received her widow's third from the estate; the rest went to her children Jonathan, Samuel, Hannah, and Sarah. [6]
No probate records have been found for John Sawyer. [6]

i. Judith Sawyer was born on 16 October 1701 in Newbury. [1][7] She married Nathan Chase on 29 November 1723 in Newbury. [1]
ii. John Sawyer was born on 5 April 1704 in Newbury. [1][7] He died on 17 April 1723 in Newbury. [1]

iii. Lydia Sawyer was born on 29 March 1712.
iv. Eunice Sawyer was born on 21 January 1714. She married Joshua Woodman in March 1735/6 in Newbury. [1][7]
v. Lois Sawyer was born on 21 July 1718. She died in 1799. She married William Calef.

i. Hannah Sibley was born on 17 May 1696.
ii. Richard Sibley was born in January 1698. He died young.
iii. Sarah Sibley was born on 27 March 1699.
iii. Jonathan Sibley was born on 25 November 1701.
iv. Samuel Sibley was born in July 1704. He died young.
v. Samuel Sibley was born on 5 May 1705.
