WILLIAM RUSSELL (d. 1662)
MARTHA UNKNOWN (d. 1694)
William Russell died on 14 February 1661/2 in Cambridge. [1][2][3] He married Martha Unknown in England. [1]
Martha Unknown died in 1694. [3] She married second Humphrey Bradshaw on 24 March 1665 in Cambridge. [1] He died on 9 May 1682, age 68, in Cambridge. [1] Martha married third Thomas Hall on 24 May 1683 in Cambridge. [1] Thomas may be the Thomas who married [previously] Elizabeth Unknown in Cambridge. [1]
Hunt argues that William and Martha might be the William Russell, carpenter and bachelor of Abbotts Langley, Hertfordshire, and Martha Davyes, spinster of the same parish, who married on 26 May 1636 in St. Stephens church in St. Albans. A surey for the couple was Walter Davyes, wheelwright of Bovingdon, Hertsfordshire. [4]
William was a carpenter. [5]
Jonathan Mitchell, minister at Cambridge, wrote in his register that Martha, wife of William was a member in full communion and brought her son Joseph, about ten years of age and baptized in England. Unfortunately, he does not say when Martha arrived and joined the church. [4]
