JOHN MAY (d. 1670)


John had a first wife whose name is not known. She died on 18 June 1651 in Roxbury. [1] He married second Sarah ___.

May says that John Eliot recorded on 18 June 1651, "Sister Mayes died a very gracious and savory Christian." [2, 1, fn.]

John May made his noncupative will on 24 April 1670. His witnesses said he wished "to prevent trouble &c between his two sons and his wife." He named his two sons as John and Samuel, and made them his executors. Inventory was taken on 29 April 1670. [3]

Children of John May:

i. John May was born about 1631. He was buried on on 11 September 1671; he was blind and about 40 years old. [2] He married Sarah (Brewer) Bruce, the daughter of Daniel and Joanna Brewer on 19 November 1656. [2]

John was blind for some months before he died. [2]

ii. Samuel May was born say 1633. He died on 17 July 1677 in Roxbury. He married Abigail Stansfield.
