John Goodrich's English Ancestry [1]
William Goodrich was probably born about 1545 in Suffolk. He was buried in Hessett, co. Suffolk on 24 October 161121. He married Margaret ___, She was buried on 22 March 1630/1 in Hessett.
Children of John and Margaret Goodrich, baptisms in Hessett:
i. John Goodrich was born about 1575.
ii. Robert Goodrich was baptized on 5 May 1577.
iii. William Goodrich was baptized on 11 September 1580. He was probably buried on 7 August 1645 in Hessett. He married Barbara Cole there on 16 May 1698.
iv. Henry Goodrich was baptized on 12 January 1583/4. He married and had children.
v. Susan Goodrich was baptized on 30 May 1591. She married first John Lock in Lawshall, Suffolk in 1618. She married second John Beamond in Bradford Combust in 1628.
vi. Elizabeth
Goodrich married Philip Clarke on 25 July 1623 in Bradford St. George.
John Goodrich died on 21 April 1632 in St. Mary's Parish, Bury S. Edmunds. He married Margery How on 7 August 1615 in St. James, Bury St. Edmunds. She died between 14 April and 16 May 1632.
John was a clothier.

i. John Goodrich was born after 1611.
ii. William Goodrich "the elder" was born about 1617 in Bury St. Edmunds. He was buried on 17 June 1678 at Hessett. He married Rebecca ___. She died on 18 November 1698.
William received his B.A. from Caius College, Cambridge in 1638 and was minister at Hessett.
iii. Henry Goodrich was baptized on 28 [?] November 1619. He was buried on 14 [?] November 1619 at Bury S. Edmunds.
iv. Ensign William
Goodrich was baptized on 13 February 1621/2. He died in 1676 in Wethersfield, Connecticut. He married Sarah Marvin on 4 October 1648 in Hartford. Sarah, the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Marvin, was baptized on 27 December 1631 in Great Bentley, county Essex, and died before 16 January 1701/2 in Stratford. She married second Captain William Curtis. William, the son of John and Elizabeth (Hutchins) Curtis, was baptized on 21 June 1618 in Nazeing and died on 21 December 1702 in Stratford.
William was ensign of the Wethersfield train band and many times a town representative to the General Court.
v. Jeremy
Goodrich was baptized on 24 June 1627. He died young.
John Goodrich was born after 1611. [1] He died in early 1680 in Wethersfield. [1] He married first Elizabeth ___. [1] He married second by a contract dated 4 April 1674 Mary (Foote) Stoddard, the daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Deming) Foote and the widow of John Stoddard. [1] She married third Lieutenant Thomas Tracy of Norwich. [1]
Elizabeth ___ died in childbirth on 5 July 1670 in Wethersfield. [1]
Jacobus and Waterman argue that Elizabeth was not Elizabeth Edwards. [1]
John made his will on 9 June 1672. He named his daughter Elizabeth Rose, his son John Goodrich, his daughters Mary Goodrich and Hannah, and his youngest sons Joseph and Jonathan. Inventory was taken on 6 April 1680. It amounted to £652-10-00 and was presented by his widow Mary on 21 April 1680. The will was not allowed and was still being contested in 1704. [1]

i. Elizabeth Goodrich was born on 2 November 1645. [1] She married Daniel, the son of Robert and Margery Rose, about 1631. [1]
ii. John Goodrich was born on 5 September 1647 and he died about March 1676. [1] He married Mary Gibbs on 23 March 1674. [1]
iii. Mary Goodrich was born on 15 December 1650 in Wethersfield. She died on 2 October 1724 in Sudbury. She married Thomas Read.
iv. Joseph Goodrich was born on 10 January 1653/4. [1] He died between 19 October 1680, when he wrote his will, and 4 November 1680, when inventory was taken. [1]
His will mentions his brother Daniel Rose, his sister Elizabeth Rose, his sisters Mary and Hannah, and his brother Jonathan. His executors were his loving uncle Thomas Read, Sr. and Thomas Read, Jr. [1]
v. Hannah Goodrich was born say 1658. She die on 30 July 1719 at Sudbury [1] She married Zachariah Maynard on 15 July 1678 in Sudbury. [1] Zachariah, the son of John and Mary (Axtell) Maynard, was born on 7 June 1647 in Sudbury and died there on 11 February 1723/4. [1]
vi. Jonathan Goodrich was born about 1665. [1] He died after 15 July 1742. [1] He married Abigail Crafts, the daughter of Moses Crafts and Rebecca Gardner, on 3 December 1691 in Wethersfield. [1]
