Jonathan Taylor, Sr., died on 13 October 1683 in Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut. [1]

Mary, the wife of Jonathan Taylor, Sr., was sick and died on 9 September 1683 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. [2]

Jonathan came to Springfield in 1649. [3] He was granted an acre there on 22 January 1651/2. [3] He was granted a "strappet" of meadow of about two acres on 30 January 1655/6, on the condition that he remain in town for five years. [3] On 30 January 1655/6 it was noted that he sold two acres that he had been granted to John Matthews. [3] He was granted 20 acres on 8 February 1663/4, on the condition that he fence and improve it. [3]

On 8 March 1665/6 Jonathan was on a committee to allocate fencing. [3] On 29 August 1666 he and many others were absent from the town meeting. [3] On 11 February 1666/7 and 12 February 1671/2 he was chosen a fence viewer. [3] On 3 January 1680/1 he was awarded ten shillings for killing a wolf. [3] He was appointed a member of a group to make and maintain a highway from the hay place over the river to Agawam Falls on 12 February 1668/9. [3] He was appointed a hay ward on 7 February 1664/5, 4 February 1672/3 and 31 January 1672/3. [3] He was part of a group chosen to maintain the "water fence" that went into th river on 20 April 1667. [3] He was chosen constable on 26 November 1668. [3]

Jonathan was an earlier proprietor of Suffield and was granted 50 acres there in 1680. His houselot was on Springfield Road. [4]

i. Mary Taylor was born on 1 (6) 1649. She died on 18 March 1699/1700 in Springfield. She married James Taylor.

ii. Anna Taylor was born on 6 (2) 1651. She was buried on 20 (2) 1651 in Springfield. [2]

iii. Samuel Taylor was born on 8 (7) 1652. He died on 7 September 1689 in Suffield. [4] He married Ruth Cogan on 24 June 1675 in Springfield. [2] Ruth, the daughter of Thomas and Joanna Cogan, was born about 1651 in Taunton. [5] She died on 3 November 1724 in Suffield. [1] The widow Ruth married second Thomas Copley on 25 May 1693 in Suffield. [1] Thomas, the son of Thomas Copley of Springfield, died on 3 December 1712. [4] He married first Ruth Unknown. [4] She died on 5 October 1692. [4]

Samuel was an earlier proprietor of Suffield and was granted 50 acres there in 1680. His houselot was on Springfield Road. [4]

iv. Deacon Jonathan Taylor was born on 11 (1) 1655. He died on 23 January 1725/6 in Suffield. [1] He married Sarah Brooke on 11 July 1678 in Springfield. [2] Sarah, the daughter of William and Mary (Burt) Brooks, was born on 4 May 1658 in Springfield. [5] She died on 6 January 1732/3 in Suffield. [5] She married second as his third wife John Hanchett on 27 May 1731. [5] John, the son of Deacon Thomas Hanchett, died on 23 October 1744, age 95. [4] He married first Esther Pritchett of Suffield in 1677. [4] She died on 29 November 1711 and John married second the widow Mary Harmon. [4] She died on 17 September 1730. [4] He married fourth Mary Southwell. [4]

On 3 January 1680 Jonathan, Jr. was awarded ten shillings for killing a wolf. [3]

v. Rebecca Taylor was born on 4 (5) 1657. She died on 19 November 1665 in Springfield. [2]

vi. Thomas Taylor was born on 9 (6) 1660. He may be the Thomas who was sick and died in April 1691 in Springfield. [2] He possibly married Mary Petty on 29 December 1687 in Springfield. [2]

vii. Unnamed Taylor was stillborn on 4 May 1665.
