William Collier was born about 1583. [1] He died between 29 May 1670 and 5 July 1671. [2] He married Jane (Yates) Clark on 16 May 1611 at St. Olave, Southwark, Surrey. [1][2]

Jane Yates was baptized on 5 February 1586/7 at St. Olave.  [1] She died after 28 June 1666. She married first Thomas Clark by a license of 27 September 1603 at St. Benet’s Gracechurch Parish, London. [1] He was buried on 16 September 1610 at St. Olave. [1]

William testified that he was about 85 in 1668. [1]

William was a grocer in England. [2] He was apprenticed to William Russell for eight years and was sworn in the Grocers Company of London on 16 August 1609. [2]

William and Jane lost five children and Jane lost a daughter by her first marriage in 1625 and early 1626—during an outbreak of the plague that killed about 35,000 people in London.

William and Jane migrated in 1633 and settled in Plymouth. [2] They moved to Duxbury after 1639. [2]

William was admitted a freeman on 1 January 1633/4. His name appears in the Duxbury section of a 29 May 1670 list of freemen, but it is crossed out and it is annotated that he was deceased. [2]

Given the offices William held, he was apparently well educated. He was an Assistant in 1635–1637, 1639–1651, and 1654–1665. He was a Plymouth commissioner to the United Colonies in 1643. He was a member of many important committees, including the committee to review laws on 3 June 1657. [2]
