Edward Baker (c. 1610–1687)

Edward Baker was born about 1610 in England. [1] He was buried on 16 or 17 March 1687 in Lynn. [1] He married Joan Unknown. [1] She died on 9 April 1693 in Lynn. [1]

On 20 January 1684 he signed a deed of gift to his sons Edward and Thomas "for their time and labor spent on my land in Lynn," leaving them his land in Lynn. This consisted of is farm that bought from Reverend Samuel Whiting on 1 (11) 1649, two acres of salm marsh that he bought from Robert Mansfield on 12 September 1655, and 12-1/2 acres of salt marsh that he bought from George Keyser on 1 June 1655. [1]

Edward Baker made his will on 16 October 1685. He left his estate to his son John Baker of Lynn. [1]

Children of Edward and Joan Baker:

i. Hannah Baker was born about 1638. [1] She died on 17 January 1717 in Bristol. married Thomas Lewis.

ii. Joseph Baker was born about 1640. [1] He was killed by Indians on 29 October 1675. [1] He married Ruth, the daughter of Deacon William and Mary Holton of Northampton on 5 February 1662/3. [1] She married second Thomas Lyman in 1678. [1]

iii. Mary Baker was born on 1 April 1642. [1] She died on 1 April 1719 in Milton. [1] She married George Sumner on 7 November 1662. [1] He was born on 14 February 1635 in England and died on 11 December 1715 in Milton. [1]

iv. John Baker was born about 1645. [1] He died on 15 September 1719 in Dedham. [1] He married Abigail Fisher on 17 December 1668. [1] Abigail, the daughter of Daniel and Abigail Fisher, was born about 1646 and died on 13 January 1723 in Dedham. [1]

v. Timothy Baker was born about 1647. [1] He died on 30 August 1729 in Northampton. [1] He married first Grace March of Hadley on 16 January 1672. [1] Grace, the daughter of John Hadley died on 31 May 1676. [1] Timothy married second Sarah (Holllister) Atherton, the daughter of Lieutenant John Hollister of Wethersfield and widow of Reverend Hope Atherton of Hatfield. [1] She died on 8 December 1691. [1]

vi. Thomas Baker was born in 1653. [1] He died on 30 October 1734 in Lynn. [1] He married Mary Lewis on 10 July 1689 in Lynn. [1] Mary, the daughter of John and Hannah (Marshall) Lewis was born on 24 February 1665 in Lynn. [1]

vii. Ensign Edward Baker was born about 1655. [1] He married Mary Marshall on 7 April 1685. [1] Mary, the daughter of Captain Thomas and Rebecca Baker, was born on 25 (3) 1665 in Lynn. [1]

Edward was a carpenter and and ensign in the militia. [1]

viii. Elizabeth Baker was born on 9 August 1657. [1] She married John, the son of John Witt, on 14 June 1676 in Lynn. [1]
