Martha Bartlett (1653–1718), daughter of Christopher Bartlett and Mary Unknown


Thomas Stevens died on 14 December 1729 in Amesbury. [1][2] He married Martha Bartlett on 15 April 1670. [2]

Martha Bartlett was born on 7 March 1652/3. [2] Martha, the wife of Thomas, died on 8 September 1718 in Amesbury. [1]

Deacon Thomas Stevens of Amesbury was a sawyer and a husbandman. [2] He was granted a common right in Amesbury in March 1668/9. [2] He took the oath of allegiance in 1677. [2] He was a selectman in 1686, freeman in 1690 and schoolmaster in 1693. [2]

Thomas wrote his will on 29 November 1723; it was proved on 28 April 1729. He referred to his children in general and to his sons Roger and Thomas, his deceased daughter Martha and his son Abel Merrill. [3]

Children of Thomas Stevens and Martha Bartlett:

i. Abigail Stevens was born on 22 January 1673/4. [2] She married Abel Merrill on 19 June 1694. [2]

ii. Roger Stevens married Sarah Nichols on 24 November 1698. [2]

iii. Unknown Son Stevens probably died young. [2]

iv. Martha Stevens married Robert Hoyt on 4 December 1701. [2]

vi. Mary Stevens married Thomas Chase on 17 December 1702. [2]

vii. Hannah Stevens married Nathaniel Merrill on 28 July 1709. [2]

viii. John Stevens was born on 15 November 1686. [2] He died on 26 June 1687 in Amesbury. [1][2]

ix. Thomas Stevens was born on 18 April 1688. [2] He married Mary Davis on 12 May 1709. [2]

x. Ebenezer Stevens was born on 26 March 1690. She married John Blaisdell.
