John Eastman of Charleton in Downton, Wiltshire, died between 26 April 1564, when he made his will, and 9 May 1565, when it was proved.

Nicholas Eastman was probably born between 1564 and 1570. He died after 1625. He married Barbara, probably Barbara Rooke. She was buried on 9 July 1625 in Downton.

Roger Eastman of Salisbury

Roger Eastman was baptised on 4 April 1610 in Downton, Wiltshire. [1] Roger, Sr. died on 16 December 1694 in Salisbury. [2]

Sarah Unknown was born about 1621, based on a deposition. Sarah Eastman, widow, died on 11 March 1697/8 in Salisbury. [2]

Roger deposed that he was about 60 and Sarah deposed that she was about 50 on 18 April 1671. [3]

Roger Eastman sailed for Boston in the Confidence in 1638. [1] He took the oath of fidelity in 1646 in Salisbury [4]

Roger was on the trial jury in 1644. He was on the grand jury in 1667, 1676 and 1677. [5]

Roger, "for reasons appearing to this court," was discharged from being the constable of Salisbury on 13: 2m: 1669. [6]

Roger was probably illiterate as he signed documents with his mark. [7]

Roger Eastman of Salisbury wrote his will on 6 June 1691. He mentioned his sons John, Nathaniel, Philip, Timothty, Joseph, Benjamin and Samuel and his deceased son Thomas and Thomas's widow Deborah. He mentions his daughters Sarah Shepherd and Ruth Heard and his wife Sarah. [8]

i. John Eastman was born on 9: 1m: 1640 in Salisbury. [9] John, Sr., died on 25 March 1720 in Salisbury. [2] He married first Hannah Helie on 27: 8m: 1665 in Salisbury. [10] He married second Mary Boynton on 5: 9m: 1670 in Salisbury. [10] Mary, the widow of John, died on 28 July 1727 in Salisbury. [2]

ii. Thomas Eastman was born on 11: 9m: 1641 in Salisbury. [9] He was killed by Indians on 29 April 1688 in Haverhill. [11] He married Deborah Unknown. Eastman [12] say that she was a daughter of George Corbis. [12] Doborah married second Thomas Kingsley on 19 June 1691. [11]

Thomas moved to Haverhill. [12]

iii. Nathaniel Eastman was born on 18: 3m: 1643 in Salisbury. [9] He died on 30 November 1709 in Salisbury. [2] He married Elizabeth Hudson on 30: 2m: 1671(?) in Salisbury. [10] Elizabeth was the daughter of Jonathan Hudson. Elizabeth, the widow of Nathaniel, died on 10 June 1734 in Salisbury. [2]

Elizabeth, the wife of Nathaniel Eastman of Salisbury, charged Joseph Hall of Lynn with being the father of her child before marriage. Elizabeth Osgood, the midwife, Hannah, the wife of Nathaniel Brown, and Roger and Sarah Eastman all deposed that Elizabeth had told them this.The matter considered proved, on 8: 8m: 1672 the court ordered Joseph to pay Nathaniel for maintenance of the child and to pay Elizabeth's father Jonathan Hudson for enticing her contrary to Jonathan's warnings. Elizabeth was ordered to be severely whipped or to pay a fine. [13]

Nathaniel was a cooper. [11]

iv. Philip Eastman was born on 20: 10m: 1644 in Salisbury. [9] Philip Eastman married and unknown first wife. [11] Timothy of Haverhill married the widow Mary Morse on Newbury on 22 August 1678. [12][14] Mary, the daughter of Thomas and Eleanor Morse of Newburyport, was born on 22 September 1645. [11] She married first Anthony Morse. [11] Philip married third Margaret Unknown. [11]

Philip lived in Haverhill, but his house was burned by Indians on 15 March 1697 and he moved to Connecticut. [11]

v. Timothy Eastman was born on 29: 9m: 1648 in Salisbury. [9] He died on 1 April 1738. [12] He married Lydia, the daughter of William Markham, on 16 May 1682. [12]

Timothy moved to Suffield, Connecticut and then to Hadley, Massachusetts. [12]

vi. Joseph Eastman was born on 8: 11m. 1650 in Salisbury. [9] He died on 4 April 1692. [12] He married Mary, the daughter of Hon. Peter Tilton. [12] She was baptized on 18 February 1643. [12]

Joseph moved to Suffield and then to Hadley. [12]

vii. Benjamin Eastman was born on 12: 12m: 1652 in Salisbury. [9] Benjamin, Sr., died on 23 January 1727/8, age 74, in Salisbury. [2] He married first the widow Anne Joy on 5 April 1678 in Salisbury. [10] Anne, the wife of Benjamin, died on 13 December 1698 in Salisbury. [2] Benjamin married second Naomi Flanders on 4 April 1699. [12] She died on 24 July 1718. [12] Benjamin married third, as her third husband, Sarah (Unknown) (Carter) Brown. on 5 October 1719. [11] Sarah married first Samuel Carter and second Ephraim Brown. [11]

Benjamin was a tanner. [11]

viii. Sarah Eastman was born on 25: 7m: 1655 in Salisbury. She died on 1 December 1745. She married first Joseph French. She married second Solomon Shepherd.

ix. Samuel Eastman was born on 20: 9m: 1657 in Salisbury. [9] He married first Elizabeth Severance in 1684. [12] He married second Sarah Fifield on 17 September 1719. [12] She died on 3 August 1726. [12]

x. Ruth Eastman was born on 21: 1m: 1660/1 in Salisbury. [9] She married Benjamin Heard of Dover on 23 May 1690 in Salisbury. [10] Benjamin was the son of Captain John and Elizabeth (Hull) Heard of Dover, New Hampshire. [11]
