Sergeant John Alcock (d. aft. 1673)

Sergeant John Alcock died, intestate, after 21 June 1673. [1] He married Elizabeth Unknown. She survived until the massacre of 1692.

John Alcock was in York as early as 1639. [1] He was a selectman from 1652 to 1659 and from 1669 to 1673. [1] He was alderman of Georgiana in 1648. [1] He was a sergeant of the militia in 1659. [hym1] He was a commissioner to end small causes in 1668. [1]

John's estate was divided on 11 March 1675. The inventory amounted to £256-09-00. [1]

i. Samuel Alcock [1]

ii. Mary Alcock was born in 1632. [1] She married Peter Twisden. [1]

iii. Joseph Alcock was born in 1634. [1] He died on 30 July 1678. [1] He married Abigail, the daughter of Daniel Paul, in Kittery. [1]

Joseph was a mariner and a shipwright. [1]

iv. Elizabeth Alcock was born in 1636. [1] She married Richard Banks. [1]

v. Job Alcock was born in 1638. [1] He died between 2 December 1712, when he wrote his will, and 1716, when it was proved. [1] He married Dorothy, the daughter of Reverend John and Frances (Clark) Rayner of Dover. [1][2]

Job was a shipwright and a magistrate. [2] He was a judge of the Court of Common Pleas and chief justice in 1693. [2]

vi. Hannah Alcock was born on 1640. [1] She married Captain George Snell. [1][2]

vii. Sarah Alcock was born about 1643. She died after 29 March 1692. She married John Giddings.

viii. Lydia Alcock was married in 1644. [1] She married Reverend Shubael Dummer. [1]
