SAMUEL PROCTOR (1665–1740), son of Robert Proctor and Jane Hildreth

SARAH UNKNOWN (c. 1672–1757)

Samuel, the son of Robert and Sarah [!] Proctor, was born on 15 September 1665 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. [Ref] Samuel, the son or Robert and Jane, died on 12 April 1740, age 74 years, six months and 27 days, in Chelmsford. [Ref] He is buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground in Chelmsford. He married Sarah Unknown.

Sarah was born about 1672. Sarah, the widow of Samuel, died on 17 January 1757, age 85, in Chelmsford. [Ref]

Samuel Proctor, yeoman of Chelmsford, made his will and signed it with his mark on 7 March 1739/40. He said that he was "in health of body and of perfect mind and memory. He mentioned his wife Sarah; his sons Samuel, Thomas, David, William, Daniel and Jonas; his daughter Lucy; Eleazer and Abraham Cummings, the children of his deceased daughter Rachel. He named his son William his executor. Sarah, gave her consent for the will to be proved on 9 May 1740 and it was on 12 May. [Ref]

i. Sarah Proctor was born on 15 April 1694. She died on 11 May 1694 in Chelmsford. [Ref]

ii. Samuel Proctor was born on 16 January 1696/7. He was died on 6 October and was buried on 8 October 1674, age 68, in Chelmsford. [Ref] He married Lydia Cotton after 15 March 1723/4 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] She might be the Lydia, the daughter of Samuel and Lydia Cotton, who was born on 25 November 1699 in Middletown, Connecticut. [Ref] Lydia, the wife of Samuel, died on 10 or 11 February 1763 in Chelmsford. [Ref]

iii. Thomas Proctor was born on 12 December 1698. He died on 3 September 1744 in Westford. He married Hannah Barron.

iv. David Proctor was born on 1 February 1701. He married Hannah Farrar of Concord on 31 December 1730 in Concord. [Ref] Hannah, the daugher of Jacob and Susanna (Rediate) Farrar, was born on 11 September 1705. [Ref] She was the granddaughter of Jacob Farrar and his wife Hannah Hayward. [Ref] He might have married second Lydia (Wright) Hildreth, the widow of James Hildreth. [Ref]

David's birth records says that he is the son of Samuel and Hannah.

v. Rachel Proctor was born on 5 January 1702/3. She died before 7 March 1739/40. She married Eleazer Cummings of Dunstable after 26 October 1729 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Eleazer, the son of Nathaniel and Abigail (Parkhurst) Cummings, was born on 19 October 1701 in Dunstable. [Ref]

vi. William Proctor was born on 14 August 1704. He died on 13 or 14 October 1767, age 63 years, one month and three days, in Chelmsford. [Ref] He married Lucy Fletcher after 9 July 1733 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Lucy, the daughter of William and Tabitha Fletcher, was born on 21 February 1710 in Chelmsford. [Ref] She is the granddaughter of William Fletcher and his wife Sarah Richardson. [Ref] She died on 14 June 1774, age 64. She married second as his fourth wife Lieutenant Jonathan Harwood. Jonathan married first Joanna Spalding after 3 April 1731 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Joanna, the daughter of Andrew and Abigail Spalding was born on 8 July 1712. [Ref] She was probably the granddaughter of Deacon Andrew Spalding. She died on 10 May 1737, age 24, and is buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground in Chelmsford. [Ref] He married second Mary Parker after 18 March 1737/8 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Mary, the daughter of Ebenezer Parker and Elizabeth Parker, was born on 14 January 1716/7. [Ref] She died on 27 December 1754, age 36, and is buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground. [Ref] He married third as her second husband [William's first cousin once removed] Judith Proctor on 2 May 1759 in Woburn. [Ref] Judith, the daughter of James Proctor and his wife Judith Nichols and grand daughter of James Proctor and his wife Esther (Fletcher) Parker, was born on 29 February 1720 in Woburn. [Ref][Ref] She died on 15 September 1766, age 46 years, six months and 15 days, in Chelmsford and is buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground. [Ref] She married first John Reed on 3 January 1738. [Ref][Ref]

William and Lucy are buried in the Forefathers Burial Ground. The inscription on his grave says, "Memento mori Here lies the Body of Mr William Procter who departed this Life October 13th 1767. Aged 63 Years, one months and 30 days."The inscription on hers says, "Here lies the body of Mrs. Lucy Harwood wife of Lieut Jonathan Harwood who departed this life June the 14th 1774 in the 65th year of her age." William Proctor of Chelmsford made his will on 13 October 1767. His heirs were his wife Lucy; Ruben, son of Philip Proctor, late of Westford; Joseph Pierce, Jr. of Chelmsford; Mary Fletcher, daughter of William Fletcher of Chelmsford; Mary Proctor, daughter of Samuel Proctor, late of Chelmsford; Lydia, daughter of Cotton Proctor of Groton, Rebecca Parker, daughter of Jonas Parker of Acton; Esther Powers, daughter of Remembrance Power of Chelmsford. [Ref]

vii. Captain Daniel Proctor was born on 1 November 1706. He died on 28 January 1775, age 68 or 69, in Chelmsford. [Ref] He married Susannah Hill of Billerica after 17 September 1727 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Susannah, the daugher of Joseph and Susanna, was born on 18 February 1704/5 in Billerica. [6] Susanna, the wife of Capt. Daniel Proctor died on 26 November 1785, age 81, in Chelmsford. [Ref]

viii. Lucy Proctor was born on 9 (grave) or 19 (town record) August 1708. Lucy, the wife of Henry died on 11 June 1742, age 33 years, ten months and two days in Chelmsford. [Ref] She married Cornet Henry Spaulding after 5 December 1725 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref] Henry, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Spalding was born on 22 November 1704 in Chelmsford. [Ref] He is probably the grandson of Andrew Spalding and his wife Hannah. Cornet Henry died on 29 April 1792, age 88, in Chelmsford. [Ref] He is probably the Henry who married [second] Marah Adams on 27 April 1743 in Chelmsford. [Ref] Mary, the wife of Henry, died on 29 April 1807, age 91 or 92, in Chelmsford. [Ref]

ix. Charles Proctor was born on 31 June 1710. He died on 28 October 1710 in Chelmsford. [Ref]

x. Jonas Proctor was born on 9 April 1712. He married Esther Spaulding after 6 March 1725/6 (intention) in Chelmsford. [Ref]

xi. Sarah Proctor was born on 30 September 1715.
