Deacon Jacob Warren (c. 1668–1727), son of Jacob Warren and Mary Hildreth

Sarah Unknown (b. 1667)

Jacob was probably born about 1668. Jacob, the son of Jacob and Mary Warren, was baptized on 8 February 1673/4 in Chelmsford. [1] Deacon Jacob died on 3 September 1727 in Plainfield. [2] He married Sarah ___ probably about 1688.

An entry in Reverend John Fiske's notebook for 8 (12) 1673 says, "Jacob Warren and Mary Warren these two admitted to full communion this day in our church and they and 2 children, infants, which they resigned to the watch of this church, Jacob and Joseph." [3]

Sarah was born in 1667. [4]

Jacob was surveyor of highways in 1693 in Chelmsford. [4] He and Edward Foster were appointed to run the "perambulation betwixt Concord and Chelmsford" in 1695. [4] He was collector of taxes in 1696. [4]

Jacob and his family went to Plainfield about 1697.

On 31 May 1699 the inhabitants of Quinebaug Plantation met to organize a town government. Jacob Warren, Joseph Spalding and Stephen Hall were among those chosen selectman. Jacob was chosen a rate collector for the west side of the town; Richard Adams was chosen a collector for the east side. [5]

On 24 December 1702 Jacob signed an agreement for two religious societies in Plainfield. Major James Fitch and Richard Adams were two of the east side signers; Jacob, Joseph and Benjamin Spalding, Stephen Hall and Joshua Whitney were some of the west side signers. [5]

In 1702/3 land in Plainfield was divided into five sections called eighths and allocated. Jacob was given land in the fourth eighth. [5]

In April 1704 Jacob and Joseph Spalding were appointed to a committee to complete the schoolhouse in Plainfield. [5]
