II-E-5. THOMAS JEFFERSON SIBERT (1874 – 1960), son of George Moore Sibert3 (George2, John David1)

Thomas Jefferson Sibert was born on 12 December 1874 in Troy, South Carolina. [1][2][3][4] He died of heart disease on 4 July 1960, aged 85, at his home in McCormick, McCormick County, South Carolina. [2][3][4] He married Mary Alice Corley on 12 April 1904. [1] Mary was born on 1 January 1880 in South Carolina and died on 10 November 1973. [4] Thomas and Mary are buried in the McCormick City Cemetery in McCormick. [4]

According to the census, on 3 April 1950, Thomas J., aged 76 and born in South Carolina, and Mary A., aged 70 and born in South Carolina, lived in McCormick, McCormick County with their son Joseph A. [5]

Thomas's death certificate says he was the son of George Moore and Margaret Carson (Lyon) Sibert. He was a farmer and merchant. The informant was his wife. [3] His obituary says he was the son of George Moore and Margaret (Lyon) Sibert. He was mayor of McCormick for 14 years. He was survived by his wife Mary Alice Corley Sibert and his son T.J. Sibert, Jr. His son J.A. Sibert died in 1957. [2]

Apparently, Thomas and Mary have no living descendants.

Children of Thomas Jefferson Sibert and Mary Alice Corley:

II-E-5-a. Infant Daughter was born on 5 May 1905 and died the next day. [1][4]

This unnamed daughter and her brother Mack Marion are buried together in the McCormick City Cemetery in McCormick. [4]

II-E-5-b. Thomas Jefferson Sibert was born on 20 October 1906 in McCormick. [1][6] He died on 13 March 1987. [4] He married Sara Frances Watkins on 25 October 1937 in the McCormick Baptist Church. [7] Frances was the daughter of George Pressley and Lucretia (Henderson) Watkins of McCormick. [7][8] She was born on 15 October 1916 in McCormick County. [8][4] She died on 4 May 2004 in the University Hospital in Augusta. [8][4] Thomas and Frances are buried in the McCormick City Cemetery. [4]

According to his wedding announcement, Thomas was the son of Mayor T.J. and Mrs. Sibert of McCormick. He was a farmer. [7]

According to his 16 October 1940 draft registration card, Thomas lived in McCormick. He was a farmer. He named his wife his contact. [6]

Frances's obituary suggests she left no children. [8]

II-E-5-c. Mack Marion Sibert was born on 15 August 1909 and died on 14 June 1910. [1][4]

II-E-5-d. Joseph Augustus Sibert was born on 25 February 1912 in McCormick, South Carolina. [1][4][6] He died of a heart attack on on 8 June 1957 in St. Joseph's Hospital in Augusta. [4][9]

According to his 16 October 1940 World War II draft registration card, Joseph Augustus worked for People's Drug Store. His contact was his mother. [6]

On 3 April 1950, Joseph A., aged 38 and born in South Carolina, lived with his parents in McCormick. He was the treasurer of McCormick County. He had never been married. [5]

According to his obituary, Joseph was a veteran of World War II. He served as treasurer of McCormick County from 1946 until his death. He was survived by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and (Corley) Sibert, and his brother, T.J. Sibert, Jr. [9]
