II-D-2. JAMES ISAAC SIBERT (1868 – 1902), son of John Henry Sibert3 (George2, John David1)
James Isaac "Jim" Sibert was born on 11 October 1868 in Bradley, South Carolina. [1][2] He died on 22 August 1902. [1][2] He is buried in the Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. [1] He married first Emma Bracknell on 18 December 1890 in Abbeville. [1][3] He married second Frances Lora Babb on 11 December 1895 in Baldwin County, Georgia. [1][4] She was born in 7 January 1877 in Georgia and died on 3 August 1965. [2] She was buried in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville, Baldwin County. [2] Fannie L. Sibert married second Hines Edwards on 16 November 1904 in Baldwin County. [4]
At the time of her death, Frances Lora—a native of Baldwin County—had lived in Millegeville for 52 years. She was survived by —among others —her son H.P. Sibert. She was the daughter of Charles H. and Mary Frances (Pierce) Babb. [5]
According to the census, on 9 June 1900, James, born in October 1867 in South Carolina, and "Flora," born in January 1877 in Georgia, lived in their own house at 1578 Walton Way in Augusta with their son Hamilton, born in November 1896 in Georgia; their son Rosco, born in September 1898 in Georgia; and a boarder [perhaps Flora's brother], Burnard Babb, born in July 1875 in Georgia. James and Flora had been married for four years and had had two children. James and Burnard were carpenters. [6]
On 18 August 1902, G.T. Sibert received a telegram from Augusta informing him his brother Jim was sick, and not expected to live. G.T. arrived in Augusta on the 19th and left on the 21st. His brother was still alive, but no better. [7]
Children of James Isaac Sibert and Fannie Lora Babb:
II-D-2-a. Hamilton Phinizy (Phynezy) Sibert was born in 10 November 1896 in Augusta. [2] He died on 17 January 1971, aged 74, in Gardendale, Jefferson County, Alabama. [2][8] H.P. Sibert, aged 26, married Orline Deas Mobley on 3 May 1923 in Birmingham. [9][10] Orline was born on 3 September 1902 and died on 28 October 1969, aged 67, in Gardendale. [2][8] Hamilton and Orline are buried in the Moncrief Cemetery in Gardendale. [2]
According to her death record, Orline Mobley Sibert, the wife of H.P. Sibert, was the daughter of William M. and Mina (Bevel) Mobley. [8]
According to his 5 June 1918 World War I draft registration card, Hamilton Phinizy Sibert of 111 Boulevard Avenue in Macon was born on 10 November 1896 in Augusta. His father was born in Bradley, South Carolina. His mother was Mrs. H.M. Edwards of 111 Boulevard Avenue. Hamilton was of medium height and slender, with gray eyes and black hair. [11]
According to the census, on 26 April 1930, Hamilton, aged 34 and born in Georgia, and Arline, aged 27 and born in Alabama, lived in a rented house at 7930 7th Avenue S. in Birmingham with their sons Hamilton, Jr., aged six and born in Alabama, and James, aged two years and ten months and born in Alabama. They owned a radio set. Hamilton was the chief clerk for a steam railroad; Arline was an artist. [6]
On 13 April 1940, Hamilton, aged 43, and Orline, aged 37, lived in their own house at 8445 7th Avenue S. in Birmingham with their children Hamilton P., Jr, aged 16; James Morris, aged 12; David M., aged six and born in Alabama. Hamilton [Sr] had finished the first year of high school; Orline had finished the first year of college. The children attended school. Hamilton was a traffic manager for a mining institute. [6]
On 10 April 1950, Hamilton P., aged 53, and Orline M., aged 47, lived on a farm off of Highway 31 in Jefferson County with their son David M., aged 16. Hamilton was a traffic manager for a mining institute. [6]
Children of Hamilton P. Sibert and Orline Mobley:
i. Samuel Pierce Sibert was born on 11 March 1924 in Birmingham. [12][13] He died on 14 July 1982 in Miami. [12][14] He married first Elizabeth Carolyn Bell on 6 August 1924 in Jefferson County. [15] Caroline was born about 1927 in Alabama. Carolyn Bell Furlong died on 8 December 1996. [16] Samuel and Carolyn divorced in December 1966 in Dade County, Florida. [17] Samuel married second Ruth Spencer in December 1967 in Dade County. [18] She survived her husband. [14] Carolyn married second Waldo Furlong. [19]
As they are about the same age, and Samuel Pierce does not show up in the census with his parents, and references to Hamilton P., Jr. appear to be found solely in the census, I infer they are the same person. Samuel's World War II draft registration card had Hamilton, Phinizy, Jr. crossed out and Samuel Pierce written in. [13]
According to his social security records, Samuel was the son of Hamilton P. and Orline D. (Mobley) Sibert. [12]
According to his 3 June 1942 World War II draft registration card, Samuel was lived on Route 1 in Gardendale. He gave his father as his contact and said his employer was the Woodlawn High School. [13]
According to the census, on 15 April 1950, Samuel P., aged 26, and Caroline B. aged 22 and born in Alabama, lived in Birmingham with [possibly living] children. Samuel was an assistant sales manager for a tractor company. [6]
According to his obituary, Samuel moved from Birmingham to Miami in 1959. He was a heavy equipment salesman. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. [14]
Children of Samuel Pierce Sibert and Elizabeth Carolyn Bell:
ii. James Morris Sibert was born on 1 June 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama. [2][13] He died on 25 April 1996. [2][21] James, aged 24, married first Lucille Genice Barber, aged 27, on 21 August 1951. [22] They divorced in July 1957 in Jefferson County. [23] He married second Ann M. Labieniec on or shortly after 2 August 1957 in Hartford, Connecticut. Ann was born on 29 July 1931 and died on 15 April 1963. [2] James and Ann are buried in the Moncrief cemetery. [2] James married third Ovilea, the daughter of Tedie and Dola Butler. [2] She was born on 19 September 1931 and died on 21 October 2013. [2] She is buried in the Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale. [2]
James's first marriage record says he was born in Birmingham, and the son of Hamilton Phynizy and Orline (Mobbley) Sibert. Lucille was born in Gadsden and divorced. She was the daughter of Travis and Cora (Lucille) Barber. James was in the U.S. Navy. [22]
James M. Sibert, Navy, of Gardendale, Alabama, and Ann M. Labieniec, typist, of Hartford, applied for a marriage license on 2 August 1957 in Hartford. [24]
According to his 6 June 1945 World War II draft registration card, James Morriss, aged 18, worked at the USMSTS [U.S. Maritime Service Training Station] in St. Petersburg, Florida. He gave his father as his contact. [13]
According to his obituary, James was survived by his wife Ovilea, four children, and his brother David. He was preceded in death by his brother Samuel of Miami. [21]

[27] Sharon was born in April 1942[!]. [28] She later married ___ Houk. [28] David appears to have married second Betty Jean Welch. Betty, the daughter of Arthur E. and Jewel E. (Little) Welch, was born on 29 October 1933 and died in April 1995. [12] She married first ___ Bradford by November 1956. [12]
David enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 27 October 1950 and was discharged on 7 February 1954. He re-enlisted on 1 November 1954 and was discharged on 2 November 1956. [26]
