Isaac Parker (1760–1825), son of Moses Parker and Bridget Cummings

Bridget Fletcher (1760–1804), daughter of Timothy Fletcher and Bridget Richardson


Isaac Parker was born on 22 August 1760 in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. [1] He was baptized on 24 August 1760 in the church in Westford. [2] He died on 27 August 1825 in Byron, New York and is buried in the Tyler Cemetery in Genesee County, New York. [1][3] He married Bridget Fletcher on 8 February 1785 in Westford. [1]

Bridget Fletcher was born on 12 August 1760 in Westford. [1] She was baptized on 17 August 1760 in the church in Westford. [2] She died on 16 July 1804 in Cavendish, Windsor County, Vermont and is buried in the Old Cemetery in Proctorsville in Cavendish. [1][3]

The inscription on Isaac's grave says, "He was a kind husband, an affectionate father." [3]

Isaac was a soldier in the Revolutionary War from Westford. He was a drummer in Captain Timothy Underwood's company, Colonel William Prescott's regiment of Minutemen, which marched in response to the alarm of 19 April 1775 and was in service for 14 days. There is an order for advance pay for him, dated 9 June 1775 in Cambridge, as a soldier in Captain Joshua Parker's company, Colonel William Prescott's regiment. He in a 1 August 1775 muster roll as a drummer in the same company. He enlisted on 24 May and served 69 days. He is on a company return dated 17 September 1775. There is an order of a bounty coat or its equivalent in money dated 1 November at Cambridge. He was a private in Captain John Minott's company, Colonel Dike's regiment. He enlisted on 13 December 1776 and is on a muster roll for December 1776 to February 1777.The regimentwas raised to serve until 1 March 1777. He was in Captain Joshua Parker's company, Colonel Robinson's regiment. He enlisted on 5 July 1777 for service until 1 January 1778 at Rhode Island. [4]

Children of Isaac Parker and Bridget Fletcher:

i. Hannah Parker was born on 29 November 1785 in Cavendish. [5] She died on 9 August 1878 in Coventry, Orleans County, Vermont, age 92 years, eight months and 12 days. [5] She married Dr. Peleg Redfield on 23 March 1803 in Weathersfield, Vermont. [3][6][7] Peleg was the son of Beriah and Dorothy (Stevens) Redfield and the grandson of Peleg Redfield. [8] He was born on 24 June 1774 in Killingworth, Connecticut. [3] He was baptized on 14 August 1774 in Killingworth. [8] He died on 8 November 1843. Hannah and Peleg are buried together in the Coventry Center Cemetery. [3]

According to an obituary, the Honorable Peleg Redfield died on 8 November 1648, age 75 in Coventry. [9]

According to an obituary, Isaac Fletcher Redfield, the son of Dr. Peleg and Hannah (Parker) Redfield of Weathersfield, was elected chief judge of the Vermont Supreme Court in 1852. [10]

ii. Sarah ("Sally") Parker was born on 21 December 1787 in Westford. [1] She died of "old age" on 5 September 1886, age 89 years, six months and 4 days, in Cavendish. [5] She is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Proctorsville. [3]

In his will of 8 October 1850, Sally's nephew Lucien Proctor left a bequest to his aunt Sally Parker.

iii. Grace Parker was born on 29 May 1788 in Cavendish. [5] She died on 23 May 1790 in Cavendish. [5]

iv. Hon. Isaac Parker was born on 23 September 1790 in Cavendish. [5] He died on 30 July 1882 and is buried in the Day Cemetery in Coventry. [3] He married Arabella Cobb on 24 December 1818. [11] Arabella, the daughter of Samuel and Silence Cobb, was born on 24 June 1795 in Westmoreland, New Hampshire [12] Arabella Cobb, the wife of Hon. Isaac Parker died on 14 November 1872, age 77 years and is buried in the Day Cemetery. [3]

Isaac entered Middlebury College in 1813 and graduated in 1815. He studied law with N.P. Fletcher in Ludlow for a year, but was forced to give it up because of ill health. He was a farmer in Coventry from 1816 to 1882. He was a representative to the legislature from 1831 to 1833 and from 1847 to 1849. He was an assistant judge for the county court from 1833 to 1834. In 1850 Isaac was a 59-year-old farmer with real estate worth 3,000 dollars. He lived in Coventry with Arabella, age 55, Isaac, age 30, Addison, age 23, Richard, age 17, Sarah Ann, age 13, Nancy , age eleven, and Lydia, age nine. In 1860 Isaac was a 69-year old farmer in Coventry with real estate worth 4,500 dollars and a personal estate of 1,050 dollars. He lived with Arabella, age 66, Isaac, Jr., age 40, Mary, age 39, Arabella, age one, Addison, age 30, Richard, age 24, Lydia, age 19, Nance, age 22, and Ann, age 24. In 1870 Isaac, age 80, and Arabella, age 70, lived in Coventry with their son Isaac. [13]

v. Betsey Parker was born on 5 August 1792 in Cavendish. She died on 6 February 1871. She married first Jabez Proctor. She married second Nehemiah Colby.

vi. Nancy Parker was born on 1 June 1794 in Cavendish. [5] Nancy died on 22 February 1858, age 63, and is buried in the Twenty Mile Stream Cemetery in Cavendish. She married Zacheus Bates. [3] Zacheus died on 30 June 1885, abed 84 years and 11 months and is buried in the Twenty Mile Stream Cemetery. [3] He married first Charlotte Tarbell. [3]

In his will of 8 October 1850, Nancy's nephew Lucien Proctor left a bequest to his aunt Nancy Bates.

In 1850 Zacheus was a 50-year-old farmer in Chester with real estate worth 1,300 dollars. He lived with Nance, age 56, and Elizabeth, age 22. In 1860 Zacheus was a 62-year-old farmer with real estate worth 1,500 dollars and a personal estate of 200 dollars. He lived with Charlotte, age 45. [13]

On 11 May 1837 Nancy's niece Harriet wrote in her journal, "Aunt Nancy came to see us."

vii. John Parker was born on 9 July 1795 in Cavendish. [5]

viii. Dr. Timothy Fletcher Parker was born on 22 December 1798 in Cavendish. [5] He died on 25 February 1872 and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery in Warren, Warren County, Pennsylvania. [3] He married Catherine Eddie. [14][15]. Catherine, the daughter of Zechariah and Rose (Stewart) Eddy was born on 2 November 1806. [9] Catherine, the wife of Dr. T.F. Parker, died on 23 November 1885, age 79 years, and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery. [3]

Timothy F. Parker was a senior at the Vermont Academy of Medicine in 1829. [16]

Timothy was a physician in Warren, Pennsylvania. [17]

In 1850 Timothy F. was a 52-year-old physician with real estate worth 2,000 dollars living in Warren. He lived with Catherine, age 43 and born in Pennsylvania, Harriet H., age 16, Catherine B., age eight, and Fletcher F., age 6. In 1860 Timothy was a 61-year-old physician with real estate worth 6,400 dollars and a personal estate of 1,200 dollars living in Warren. He lived with Catherine, Harriet, 26, Kate, 17, and Fletcher, 15. [13]

ix. Abigail G. Parker was born on 15 August 1800. [3] She died on 11 September 1872 in Weathersfield. [5] She is buried in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Proctorsville. [3]

x. Elijah Fletcher Parker was born on 5 August 1803. He died on 7 June 1893, age 89 years, ten months and two days, in Cavendish. [5]

In his will of 8 October 1850, Elijah's nephew Lucien Proctor asked Elijah F. Parker, Esq. to be his executor.
