The English Ancestry of Thomas Blower

Andrew Vincent lived in Bidleston co. Suffolk. He had a son Nicholas and three daughters: one who was probably born in 1490/5, died before 1521/2 and married Thomas Chaplin; one who perhaps married Unknown Burke; one who married William Byrch. [1, 106–7]

Nicholas (Andrew) of Bidleston was probably born about 1494/7 in or near Bidleston. He died between 12 November 1553, when he made his will, and 12 March 1553/4, when it was proved. He married Agnes Unknown. [1, 97–98]

Nicholas was a substantial yeoman farmer. [1, 97–98]

Nicholas had a son Andrew; daughters Agnes, Elizabeth and Alice, born after 1532; a son Andrew, above. [1, 97–98]

Andrew Vincent (Nicholas, Andrew) of Bidleston was probably born between 1520 and 1530. He was buried on 5 December 1580. He married Alice Unknown. [1, 89–90]

Andrew made his will on 3 December 1580; he owned a fair amount of property. His children were probably all born in Bidleston. [1, 89–90]

i. Andrew Vincent died young.
ii. Nicholas Vincent was perhaps born about 1556. He married first Susan Unknown. She was buried on 26 August 1583. He married second Agnes Unknown.
iii. Alice Vincent was probably born about 1558. She married first Edmund Reicroft on 16 February 1580/1. She married second Erasmus Coree (Corre).
iv. Susan Vincent was born about 1560.
v. Bridget Vincent was probably born in 1561/2. She was living in 1581.
vi. Joan Vincent was baptized in October 1563 in Bidleston and buried there ion 26 November 1579.
vii. Mary Vincent was baptized on 13 January 1565/6 and buried on 20 October 1631 in Boxford. She married Henry Coe on 21 September 1587 in Bidleston. He was buried on 28 January 1630/1.
viii. Elizabeth Vincent was baptized on 13 June 1568 and buried on 6 August 1569.

THOMAS BLOWER made his will on 28 September 1597. He probably died the next day and was buried on 1 October 1597 in Lavenham, Suffolk. He married first Alice Sparpointe on 10 August 1574. She died in 1581. He married second Susan Vincent on 27 February 1581/2. [1, 81–81]

SUSAN VINCENT (Andrew, Nicholas, Andrew) was born about 1560.

Thomas was a tanner of Lavenham. [1, 81–81]

Probably all of Thomas's children except the last were baptized in Stanstead. [1, 81–81]

i. Thomas Blower was baptized on 10 October 1576. He was buried on 20 October 1576.
ii. Margaret Blower was baptized on 17 November 1577. She was buried on 16 December 1577.
iii. John Blower was baptized on 14 June 1579. He was alive in 1597.
iv. Susanna Blower was probably born in 1581. She married George Rugle (Ruggles?) on 20 May 1602 in Lavenham.

Children of Thomas Blower and Susan Vincent:

v. Joshua Blower was baptized on 16 December 1582. He died young.
vi. Thomas Blower was baptized on 15 December 1585. He died young.
vii. Thomas Blower was baptized on 23 April 1587.
viii. Caleb Blower was baptized on 7 July 1588. He was buried on 16 July 1588.
ix. Alice Blower was baptized on 15March 1589/90. She was alive in 1597.
x. Rachel Blower was baptized on 12 October 1591. She was buried on 13 December 1595.
xi. Mary Blower was baptized on 22 February 1592/3. She was alive in 1597.
xii. Rachel Blower was baptized on 13 December 1595 at Lavenham. She married Mark Salter on 22 October 1615 in St. Gregory's Sudbury.

Thomas Blower was baptized on 23 April 1587 in Stanstead, co. Suffolk, England. [1, 77–78] He died by 9 Sepember 1639. [2] He married Alice Frost on 19 November 1612 in Stanstead. [1, 77–78]

Alice Frost was baptized on 1 December 1594 in Stanstead. [1, 85] She probably married second William Tilly soon after 6 July 1640 in Barnstable. [2]

Alice's father refers to Alice as the wife of Thomas Blower in his will. [1, 85]

Thomas and Alice moved to Sudbury two or three years after their marriage and lived their for at least 15 years. In 1633 Alice had a dispute with the church and was charged with Contempt of Ecclesiastical Laws and fined a ruinous 100 pounds. Thomas and Alice fled to London to appeal the case and it was dismissed on 26 June 1634. [1, 77–78]

In September 1635 Thomas and Alice sailed to New England on the Truelove. [2]

i. Hannah Blower was buried on 7 May 1630 in All Saints, Sudbury.

ii. Alice Blower was baptized on 30 June 1615 at St. Gregory, Sudbury. She married Richard Brackett.

iii. Joshua Blower was baptized on 15 December 1621 in All Saints. He was buried on 22 March 1623/4.

iv. Thomas Blower was baptized on 29 February 1623/4 in All Saints. He was buried on 25 April 1625 in All Saints.

v. Mary Blower was baptized on 13 February 1625/6. She was buried on 1639/40 in All Saints.

vi. John Blower was baptized on 23 March 1627/8. He died after 9 September 1675. He married Tabitha Unknown.

John is almost certainly the John Blower who is on a 1643 list of those able to bear arms in Barnstable.

John was in Boston in 1650. He was a cooper and a slave owner. He made his will on 9 Septemer 1675.

vi. Thomas Blower was baptized on 16 May 1630 in All Saints. There is no further record of him.

vii. Pyam Blower was born about 1638. He died on 1 June 1709 in Cambridge. He married Elizabeth Belcher on 31 March 1668.
