THOMAS LOTHROP, son of REVEREND JOHN LOTHROP and Hannah House

SARAH LEARNED, daughter of William Learned and Goodith Gilman


Thomas, the son of Reverend John and Hannah (House) Lothrop, was baptised on 21 February 1612/3 in Eastwell, Kent. [ACW] He died in 1707. [ACW] He married as her second husband Sarah, the daughter of William Learned. [ACW][FGR]

Reverend John Lothrop recorded his son's marriage: [BCR]

My Sonn Tho. and Brother Larnetts daughter, widdow Ewer, in the Bey, Decemb. 11, 1639.

Sarah Learned was baptized on 18 January 1606/7 in St. Olave, Bermondsey (formerlySouthwark) as the daughter of "wm Larnet showmaker." [RWU] She married first as his second wife Thomas Ewer on 13 January 1623/4 in St. Mary Magdalene, Bermondsey, Surrey. [ACW] Thomas was baptised on 10 March 1592/3 in Strood, Kent. [ACW][FGR] He died between 5 June and August 1638. [ACW] He married first Bridget Hipsley on 13 September 1614 in Strood. [ACW][FGR]

Thomas Ewer, tailor, age 40, his wife Sarah, age 28, and their children Elizabeth, age four, and Thomas, age one and a half, sailed for New England on the James in June 1635. [FGR]

Sarah Ewer was admitted to the church in Charleston on 12 December 1635. [FGR] Thomas Ewer was admitted to the church on 8 January 1635/6. [ACW] He was admitted a freeman on 3 March 1635/6. [FGR]

Thomas Lothrop was admitted to the church in Charlestown on 4 May 1637. [FGR]

Sarah was granted administration on Thomas Ewer's estate on 3 March 1635/6. [FGR]

Thomas moved to Barnstable with his father in 1639. [ACW]

Children of Thomas Lothrop and Sarah Learned:

i. Mary Lothrop married John Stearns.

ii. Melatiah Lothrop was born on 2 November 1646 in Barnstable. [Ref] He married Sarah Farrar of Lynn. [Ref]

Children of Thomas Ewer and Sarah Learned: Baptisms recorded in Strood. [FGR]

i. John Ewer was baptized on 14 January 1627/8. He married Mary ___. [FGR]

John went to Barnstable. [FGR]

ii. Sarah Ewer was baptized on 10 May 1629. She married Thomas, the son of Thomas Blossom of Plymouth, on 18 June 1645. [FGR] He drowned on 22 April 1650. [FGR]

Thomas Blossome and Samuel Hollet drowned at the Harbour of Nocett at their first Setting out from thence aboute a fishing voyage, Aprill 22, 1650.

iii. Elizabeth Ewer was baptized on 2 October 1631. She was buried on 9 April 1641 in Barnstable. [FGR]

iv. Thomas Ewer was baptized on 6 February 1633/4. [FGR]
