EDMUND GROVER (c. 1600–1682)

MARGARET UNKNOWN (b. say 1617)


Edmund Grover was born about 1600. He died on 11 June 1682, age about 82, in Beverly. [1] He had an unknown first wife; there is no record of her in New England. [2] He married Margaret ___ by about 1640. [2]

Margaret was born say 1617.

Margaret joined the Salem church on 3 May 1646. [2]

Edmund migrated in 1633. He settled in Salem and later moved to Beverly. [2]

Edmund was a cordwainer. [2]

Children of Edmund Grover and his first wife:

i. John Grover was born about 1628. He died in August 1716, age 88, in Beverly. [2] He married Sarah Barney on 13 May 1656 in Salem. [3]

Children of Edmund Grover and Margaret Unknown:

ii. Nehemiah Grover was born about 1643. He died on 12 February 1693/4 in Beverly. [1] He married Ruth, the daughter of William Hascall of Gloucester, on 2 December 1674 in Beverly. [1]

iii. Naomi Grover was baptized on 17 May 1646 in Salem. [3] There is no further record of her.

Anderson conjectures that "Naomi" is actually Nehemiah. [2]

iv. Lydia Grover was baptized on 17 May 1646 in Salem. [3] She was living in 1660. [2]

v. Mary Grover was baptized on 17 May 1646 in Salem. [3] She married Anthony Wood on 11 June 1661 in Ipswich. [2]

vi. Deborah Grover was baptized on 26 March 1648 in Salem. She died on 22 March 1717/8 in Middleborough. She married Deacon John Bennett.
