JOHN COBB (1632–1712/5), son of Henry Cobb and Patience Hurst

MARTHA NELSON (c. 1641–aft. 1712), daughter of William Nelson and Martha Ford


John Cobb, the son of Mr. Henry Cobb, was born on 7 June 1632 in Plymouth. [1] He died between 4 February 1711/2 and 2 April 1715. He married Martha Nelson on 28 April 1658 in Plymouth. [2][3]

Martha, the daughter of William Nelson and Martha Ford, was born about 1641 in Plymouth and died after 4 February 1711/2. [3]

Martha is referred to as Martha Cobb in her father's will of 31 October 1679.

John Cobb, yeoman of Plymouth, "being weak and infirm," made his will on 4 February 1711/2. He mentioned his wife Martha, his sons Elisha, James, John and Ebenezer and his daughter Patience Bennett. He named his son John his executor. His will was proved on 2 April 1715. [4]

i. John Cobb was born on 24 August 1662 in Plymouth. He married Rachel Soule.

ii. Patience Cobb was born on 10 August 1668 in Plymouth. Patience, the widow of John Bennett, died on 2 May 1759, age 90 or 91 (gravestone) in Middleborough. [5] She married John Bennett.

iii. Ebenezer Cobb was born on 9 August l671 in Plymouth. He died on 29 July 1752, age 80, and is buried in the Burial Hill Cemetery in Plymouth. [6] He married Mercy Holmes on 1 June 1693 in Plymouth. [2] She died on 2 March 1726, age 52, and is buried in the Burial Hill Cemetery. [6]

iv. Elisha Cobb was born on 3 April 1679 in Plymouth. He married Lydia Ryder on 4 February 1702/3 in Plymouth. [2]

v. James Cobb was born on 20 July 1682 in Plymouth. James, the son of John and Martha, was baptized on 19 March 1682/[3?] in the First Church in Plymouth. [7] He married Patience Holmes on 20 July 1705 in Plymouth. [2]
