THOMAS TART


Thomas Tart (Tarte) was one of the Conihasset Partners. [1]

Mr. Tart of Scituate was presented and fined for selling wine, contrary to order, at the June 1640 court. He was again presented and fined for drawing wine at the September 1640 court. Mr. Tart of Scituate acknowledged he owed the court ten pounds in June 1649. [2, 1: 156, 162]

Thomas is in the Scituate section of the 1643 list of those men between 16 and 60 able to bear arms in Plymouth County. [3]

On 20 November 1647 Thomas Tart witnessed the acknowledgment of Christoper Lawson and Elizabeth, his wife and daughter of John James, that they had received ten pounds from the estate of Thomas James of Gloucester. [4]

Samuel Howse of Scituate, shipwright, granted to his attorney Thomas Tart, merchant of Scituate, power of attorney to execute the will of Thomas Howse, watchmaker of London, on 20 July 1649. [4]

Savage says that he went to Barbados. [5]

Thomas and Elizabeth Tart had children Jonathan and Eunice baptized on 11 April 1641 in Boston. [6] Elizabeth might be a second wife or this Thomas might be the son of the Thomas here.

Children of Thomas Tart:

i. Elizabeth Tart was born say 1615. She died before 10 May 1692. She married Thomas Williams.
