RICHARD HUTCHINSON (c. 1602/3 – 1679/82)

Richard Hutchinson was born about 1602/3. [1] He died between 19 January 1679 and 25 September 1682. He married first Alice Bosworth on 7 December 1627 in Cotgrove, Nottinghamshire. [1] He married second as her second husband Susanna Unknown. [2] She died on 26 November 1674 in Salem. [2] She married first Samuel Archer. [2] Samuel was born in 1608 and died on 26 November 1667 in Salem. [2] Richard married third Sarah, the widow of James Standish, on 1 April 1679.

English Ancestry of Richard Hutchinson [1]

Lawrence Hutchinson died between 21 July 1577, when he made his will and 9 October, when it was proved. He married Isabel Unknown. He had children Robert, Thomas, Agnes, Richard and William, who were alive when he wrote his will and mentioned in this order.

Thomas Hutchinson died between 1 March 1598, when he wrote his will and 1 March 1598, when it was proved. He lived in Newark, Nottinghamshire. He had a son William, who died before 1 March 1598, a son Thomas and a daughter Joan.

Thomas Hutchinson died between 4 March 1618, when he wrote his will, and 17 August 1618, when he was buried. He married Alice Unknown. She survived him. Thomas inherited his father's property at Newark, but moved to Arnold, near the city of Nottingham. He had children, probably in this order: (i) John Hutchinson married first Ann Unknown. She was buried on 2 September 1627 in Arnold. He married second Jane Melford. She was buried on 8 July 1629. (ii) Isabel Hutchinson married Adam Barker. (iii) Humphrey Hutchinson (iv) Elizabeth Hutchinson (v) Robert Hutchinson was baptized on 6 September 1601 in Newark. He married Margaret Unknown. (vi) Richard Hutchinson (vii) Thomas Hutchinson was baptized on 16 June 1605 in Arnold.Alice was probably a daughter of Joseph Bosworth. [1] She was born, say, 1604. She died before 26 November 1674.

Richard appears to have lived in North Muskham, Nottinghamshire. He and his family went to Salem in 1635. [1]

Alice was a member of the first church in Danvers and Richard joined in 2647. [1]

Richard Hutchinson, "weak in Body by Reason of age," made his will on 19 January 1679. It was proved on 26 September 1682. He said said that his wife should live with his son Joseph and receive ten shillings a year, or she could have the estate that she brought to the marriage. He left bequests to his son Joseph Hutchinson; his daughter Abigail and her husband Anthony Ashby; his daughter Hannah and her husband Daniel Bordman; his son in laws Nathaniel Putnam, Thomas Hale and James Hadlock. Inventory was taken on 25 September 1682 and it amounted to £94 5s. 8d. Sarah Hutchinson and Nathaniel Putman were the administrators. [3, 8:433–5]

Children of Richard Hutchinson and Alice Bosworth:

i. Alice Hutchinson was baptized 27 September 1628 in North Muskham and was buried there the same year. [1]

ii. Elizabeth Hutchinson was baptized on 30 August 1629 in Arnold. She died on 24 June 1688/9 in Danvers. She married Nathaniel Putman. [1]

Nathaniel was deacon of the Danvers church. [1]

iii. Mary Hutchinson was baptized on 28 December 1630 in North Muskham. She married Thomas Hale of Newbury on 26 May 1657. [1]

iv. Rebecca Hutchinson was born about 1632. She married James Hadlock of Salem in May 1658. [1]

v. Joseph Hutchinson was born about 1633, probably in North Muskham. He had an unknown first wife. He married second Lydia (Buxton) Small, the widow of Joseph Small, on 28 February 1678. [1]

vi. Abigail Hutchinson was baptized on 25 December 1636 in Salem. She married Anthony Ashby of Salem. [1]

vii. Hannah Hutchinson was baptized on 20 June 1639 in Salem. She married Daniel Boardman.

viii. John Hutchinson was born in May 1643. He died before 2 August 1676, when inventory was taken on his estate. He married Sarah, the daughter of John and Rebecca Putnam, in July 1672. [1]
