Samuel, the first son of Samuel and Elizabeth, was born on 9 March 1671/[2?] in Amesbury. [1]
Dorothy Ambrose was born on 21: 7m: 1673 in Salisbury. [2]
Samuel's grandfather Samuel Colby left him his best coat and best hat in his will of 6 March 1715/6. [3]
Samuel's father was a soldier in King Philip's War and present at the Falls Fight. Samuel was admitted to a choice of land tracts due a descendant of those who fought in the Falls Fight by a 1741 act. [4]
Samuel died intestate. On 16 Sepember 1746 Samuel, the eldest son of Samuel Colby of Amesbury, deceased, refused administration on his father's estate. [5]
Dorothy, widow of Samuel, petitioned to the court to make a sale of about four acres set out to her as her one-third of the estate of her husband. This was allowed and the land was sold to David Blaisdell for £53.06.08. It was acknowledged by the court on 7 May 1750. [5]

i. Elizabeth Colby was born on 7 December 1694 in Amesbury. [1] She married John Rowell on 2 March 1714/5 in Amesbury. [6]
ii. Keziah Colby was born on 11 May 1696 in Amesbury. [1] She married David Currier on 11 December 1718 in Amesbury. [6]
iii. Samuel Colby was born on 19 April 1698 in Amesbury. [1] Samuel, Jr. married Anna Nichols on 23 October 1718 in Amesbury. [6]
iv. Ambrose Colby was born on 11 May 1700 in Amesbury. [7] He was baptized on 21 December 1718 in Charlestown. [7] He died after 2 March 1788, when he made his will. [7] He married Elizabeth Lawrence on 22 December 1720 in Charlestown. [7] Elizabeth, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Clough) Lawrence, was born on 3 October 1702 in Charlestown. [7]
In 1766 Ambrose was a a blacksmith in Pownalborough (Wiscasset), Maine. [7]
v. Ensign Enoch Colby was born on 7 November 1702 in Amesbury. He married Abigail Sanborn.
vi. Susanna Colby was born on 15 August 1705 in Amesbury. [1] She died on 12 September 1790. [7] She married Lieutenant Micah Hoyt on 4 February 1725/6. [7] Micah, the son of of Lieutenant Thomas and Elizabeth (Huntington) Hoyt, was born on 18 January 1704 in Amesbury and died in 1769 in Newton, New Hampshire. [7]
Micah and Susanna lived at South Hampton and Newton. [7]
vii. Obediah Colby was born on 15 July 1706 in Amesbury. [1] He died before 2 October 1749. [7] He married Elizabeth Gee on 22 April 1728 in Boston. [7] Elizabeth, the daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth (Thornton) Gee, was born on 14 June 1704 in Boston. [7]
Obadiah was a blacksmith in Amesbury. [7]
viii. Dorothy Colby was born on 25 May 1708 in Amesbury. [1] Dorothy, the grandchild of Henry Ambrose, was baptized on 1 November 1719 in Salisbury. [8] Dorothy, Jr. married Samuel Watts of Haverhill after 5 November 1727 (intention) in Amesbury. [6]
ix. Hezekiah Colby was born on 25 March 1710 in Amesbury. [1] Hezekiah, the grandchild of Henry Ambrose was baptized on 1 November 1719 in Salisbury. [8] He was a resident of Deer Isle, Maine when he died before 17 July 1788. [7] He married Sarah Cole on 3 September 1730. [7]
Hezekiah was a mariner and shipwright. [7]
x. Ruggles Colby was born on 10 June 1711 in Amesbury. [1] He died at Edgecomb, Maine before 1790. [7] He married Abigail Davis of Newbury on 15 March 1732/3 at Newbury. [6]
Ruggles was a shipwright and one of the early settlers on the Sheepscot River, Maine. [7]
xi. Abigail Colby was born on 29 April 1713 in Amesbury. [1] She married David Blaisdell after 16 November 1733 (intention) in Amesbury. [6]
