Thomas Tarbell (d. 1678)

Thomas died of smallpox on 11 June 1678. [1] He married first Mary ___. He married second the widow Susanna Lawrence on 15 August 1676 in Charlestown. [1][2][3] She died on 5 January 1690/1, age 65, in Charlestown. [LFG] She married first John Lawrence of Charlestown. [3] He died in the spring of 1672. [3]
Mary was born about 1620, based on her age at death. She died on 29 April 1674, age 54, in Groton. [1]
Thomas settled in Watertown and owned land there in 1647. [1] On 30 March 1663, Thomas and his wife Mary sold their land in Watertown and moved to Groton. [1]
Thomas and family moved to Charlestown during King Philip’s War. [3]
Administration of Thomas’s estate was granted to his son John on 17 August 1678. [1] His inventory was either taken or presented on 8 October 1678. [4]
Children of Thomas Tarbell and Mary ___:
i. Thomas Tarbell died of smallpox on 27 April 1678 in Charlestown. [1][2] He married Hannah (Anna) Longley on 30 June 1666 in Groton. [1] Hannah, the daughter of William and Joanna Longley of Groton, died on 30 June 1666 in Groton. [1]
Thomas was a soldier in King Philip’s War. [5]
His inventory was either taken or presented in 1678. [4]
ii. Mary Tarbell died on 26 April 1676. [1] She married Jonathan Sawtell of Groton on 3 July 1665. [1]
iii. Sarah Tarbell was born about 1648. She died, a widow, in 1715 in Salem. [1] She married Cornelius Church. [1]
Sarah said she was 33 in October 1681. [1]
iv. Abigail Tarbell died after October 1719. She married Joshua Whitney.
v. John Tarbell was probably born about 1654 in Watertown. [1] He died on 25 March 1715 in Salem Village. [1] He married Mary Nurse on 25 October 1678 in Salem. [1] Mary, the daughter of Francis and Rebecca Nurse, died on 28 June 1749, age 89. [1]
Mary’s mother, Rebecca Nurse, was hanged for witchcraft in 1692 in Salem. [1]
John was a soldier in King Philip’s War. [5]
vi. Elizabeth Tarbell was born on 5 January 1656/7. [1] She died on 25 July 1684. [1] She married James Bennett on 4 February 1680/1. [1]
vii. William Tarbell was born on 26 February 1658/9. [1] He was living on 5 April 1681. [1]
William was a soldier in King Philip’s War. [5]
viii. Martha Tarbell married Thomas Mitchell on 18 May 1685 in Salem. [1]
