Michael Sallows (d. 1646)

Michael Sallows died between 19 November and 21 December 1646. He had a wife Ann ___.

Michael Sallows was granted a house lot on 6 2 [April] 1635 in Salem. [1, 9] Not yet a freeman, he apparently was or had been granted 20 acres in Salem in 1636. [1, 24]

In about 1640 [?] meadowland and marsh in Salem was allocated by a family's size. Michell Sallows, with seven people in his family, was given an acre. [1, 101–4]

On 25 11 1642 [January 1642/3] Michael Sallows was granted ten acres the great pond, if it was available after other grants had been laid out. On 8 11 1643 [January 1643/4] he was granted ten acres that had belonged to John Abys. [1, 116, 123]

Michael Sallows made his will on 19 November 1646; it was proved on 21 December 1646. His left eight pounds for the education of his youngest son Michael, six pounds and "twoo pillow beeres a mortar & a Jog pott" to his daughter Martha, along with the earnest desire that his friend John Jackson bring her up. The remainder of his estate was to be equally divided among his remaining children, Robert, John, and Samuel Sallows, and his son-in-law Edward Wilson. He named Robert Sallows and Edward Wilson his executors, but they declined the role. [2]

Edward Wilson was a ship carpenter of Salem who went to Fairfield, Connecticut about 1655. Inventory on his estate was taken on 12 November 1684, and he left a son Nathaniel and a daughter Mary, who married Jonathan Morehouse. It is unclear if Edward Wilson was the husband of a daughter of Michael or the son of Michael's wife Ann from a previous marriage. [2]
