Richard Francis (c. 1606–1687)

Richard Francis was born about 1606. He died on 24 [or a few days before] March 1686/7, age 80, in Cambridge. [1] He married Alice ___ in 16 __ in Cambridge. [1]

On 22 [!] March 1687, Samuel Sewall wrote in his diary, "Now about Goodm. Francis an ancient and good Man indeed, of Cambridge, dies." [2]

He was a freeman on 13 May 1640.

Richard Francis, Steven Francis, and John Squire were on a coroner's enquest on 1 June 1668. [3]

In his will of 28 Nov 1653, William Wilcockes of Cambridge mentions his sick wife; his cousin John Woodes; his sister the Widow Hall; his "honest bro: Richard Frances"; his brother John Taylor; his sister Christian Boyden's children in Old England. [4]

Children of Richard Francis and Alice ___:

i. Steven Francis was born on 7 February 1644 in Cambridge. [1] He married first Hannah Hall on 27 December 1670 in Cambridge. [1] She died on 2 April 1683 in Cambridge. [1] He married second Dickson on 16 September 1683 in Cambridge. [1]

ii. Sarah Francis was born on 2 December 1646 in Cambridge. She died after 13 July 1713. She married John Squire.

iii. John Frances was born on 4 January 1649/50 in Cambridge. [1] He died 3 January 1728. [5] He married Lydia Cooper on 5 January 1687/8 in Cambridge. [1] Lydia, the daughter of John and Anna Cooper, was born on 8 April 1662 in Cambridge. [1] She died 24 August 1725. [5]
