John Algor is mentioned in the Rolls of the Manor of Lindsell on 30 November 1409. [1] He held lands called Bynwoods on 1 January 1413. [1]

Second Generation

WILLIAM FICHE (FYCHE) (c. 1400–by 1466) of Widdington, co. Essex

William Fiche was born about 1400. [1] He died before 24 April 1466, when his death was reported at the Court of the Manor. [1]

William received a grant of lands in the Manor of Widdington on 18 January 1441. [1] He bought land in Widdington from Richard Pelworth on 16 January 1459. [1]

i. John Fytche was born before 1437. He married Juliana ___.

 WILLIAM ALGORE (d. by 1468) of Lindsell, co. Essex

William, the son of John Algore, died before 3 Mar 1468, when his death was reported at the Court of the Manor of Lindsell. [1]

i. Robert Algore died before 21 December 1493. He married Margaret ___.

Third Generation

JOHN FYTCHE (by 1437–by 1468) of Widdington, co. Essex

John Fytch, the son of William Fiche, was born before 1437. [1] He died before 9 April 1468, when his widow was appointed guardian of their son Thomas. [1] He married Juliana ___. [1] She died before 9 November 1514, when her death was reported at the Court of the Manor. [1] She married second Richard Westeley. [1]

John was found to be the heir of his father by Inquisitions on 24 April 1466 and 14 May 1467. [1] He was over 30 at the time. [1]

i. Thomas Fitch was born about 1465. He married Agnes Alger.

ROBERT ALGORE (d. by 1493) of Brasonhead and Lindsell, co. Essex

Robert, the son of William Algore, died before 21 December 1493, when his death was reported at the Court of the Manor of Lindsell. [1] He married Margaret ___. [1] Margaret died before 21 December 1505, when her death was reported at the Court of the Manor of Lindsell. [1] Shortly before her death, she settled lands on her Fitch granddaughters. [1]

Robert was the heir of his father by an Inquisition of 3 March 1468. [1] He made a settlement of lands called Bynwodes in Lindsell on 22 December 1490. [1]

Robert was lord of Castle Brasonhead. [1]

Children of Robert Algore and Margaret Unknown:

i. Agnes Alger died before 25 September 1533. She married Thomas Fitch.

Fourth Generation

THOMAS FITCH (c. 1465 - 1514) of Brasonhead, co. Essex

Thomas Fitch, the son of John Fytche and Juliana ___, was born about 1465. [1] He died on 21 April 1514 and is buried in the parish church in Lindsell. [1] He married Agnes Alger. [1]

Thomas was of Brasonhead. [1]

Thomas was found to be the heir of his father by Inquisition on 9 April 1468 at age three. [1] His estate received his mother's lands at Widdington on 9 November 1514. His death was reported at the Court of the Manor of Widdington on 23 December 1514. [1]

In the church of Lindsell are effigies of a man and woman; six boys and five girls. Below is an inscription: "Here lies the bodies of Thomas Fitch and his widow Agnes, which Thomas died April il 21st, 1514. May God be merciful to their soles." [1]

AGNES ALGER (ALGORE) (d. by 1533)

Agnes Alger was the only child and heir of Robert Algore. [1] She died before 25 September 1533. [1] She is buried in the parish church in Lindsell. [1]

Agnes was admitted tenant of her father's lands on 21 December 1493. [1]

Children of Thomas Fitch and Agnes Alger:

i. Richard Fitch married first Eleanor, the daughter of Thurston Storke of Trent, co. Somerset. [1] He married second Joanne, the daughter of Richard Ashe. [1]

Robert, the eldest son, inherited his father's lands in Widdington on 9 November 1514. [1]

ii. William Fitch, Esq. was born about 1496. He died on 26 December 1578, age 82. [1][2] He is buried in the Little Canfield church. [2] He married first Elizabeth ___. [1] He married second Anne, the daughter of John Wiseman of Felstead, co. Essex. [1][3] She died in 3 December 1593. [2][3] She married second Ralph Pudsey, Esq. of Grays Inn. [3]

William was of Little Canfield, co. Essex. [1]

William signed his will on 13 October 1577; it was proved on 12 January 1578/9. [1]

iii. Roger Fitch died between 12 January and 22 February 1558/9. He married Margery ___.

iv. Thomas Fitch married Margaret Meade of Magaretting, co. Essex. [1]

v. Margaret Fitch, the eldest daughter, was born about 1494. [1] She was 11 in 1505. [1]

vi. Katherine Fitch was living in 1505. [1]

Fifth Generation

ROGER FITCH (d. 1599) of Panfield, co. Essex and Bocking

Roger, the son of Thomas Fitch and Agnes Alger, died between 12 January 1558/9, when he signed his will, and 22 February 1558/9, when his will was proved. [1] He married Margery ___. [1]

Roger Fitch had a house and freehold land in Bocking. [1] He had a house in Bredford Street in Bocking that he bought from William Dobson. [1]

Margery was the sole executrix of her husband's will in 1559. [1]

i. Richard Fitch was buried on 13 Jun 1603 in Bocking. [1] He married Anne ___. [1]

Richard was church warden of St. Mary's in Bocking. [1]

ii. John Fitch  was an apprentice at the time his father made his will. [1]

iii. Bartholomew Fitch was buried on 4 November 1598 in Chelmsford. [1] He married Alice Ayer on 8 Feb 1579/80 At Chelmsford. [1] She was buried on 8 Feb 1579 in Chelmsford.

iv. Thomas Fitch 

v. William Fitch married Sarah Egiott of Chelmsford on 17 Jun 1583. [1] She was buried on 5 December 1588 in Chelmsford. [1]

vi. George Fitch was born after 1537/8. He married first Joan Thurgood. He married second Bridget ___.

vii. Robert Fitch died between 18 December 1592, when he signed his will, and 19 January 1592/3, when it was proved. [1] He married the widow Elizabeth Parker. [1] He was of Burnham, co. Essex. [1]

GEORGE FITCH (d. 1605) of Braintree, co. Essex, Sudbury and Edwardstone, co. Suffolk

George Fitch, the son of Roger Fitch and Margery ___, was born after 1537/8. [1] He died between 12 May 1605, when he signed his will, and 18 June 1605, when it was proved. [1] He married first Joan Thurgood of Elsenham, co. Essex after 13 September 1574 (license). [1] He married second the widow Bridget Unknown as her third husband. [1] Bridget married first John Goss of Edward Stone. [1] She married second John French of of Edwardstone. [1] John died between 21 January 1601/2, when he signed his will, and 3 March 1601/2, when it was proved. [1] George married third the widow Joane Taylor. [1] She is mentioned in her husband's will. [1]

George is mentioned as underage in his father's will of 12 January 1558/9. [1] He is mentioned as deceased in his cousin Thomas Fitch of Margaretting's will of 1609. [1]

George was of Braintree, Sudbury and Edwardstone, co. Suffolk. [1] He is referred to as a haberdasher of Braintree in an 18 May 1594 alekeeper's recognizance. [4] George Fitch, mercer of Sudbury, co. Suffolk, leased land from Roger Gwynne on 30 November 1600. [5] He bought a house and land in Ballingdon, co. Essex from John Shepherde in 1603. [1] He is described as a yeoman in 1603. [6]

i. George Fitch died, unmarried, before 10 November 1614, when administration was granted on his estate to his brother Joseph. [1]

ii. Joseph Fitch was born about 1587. [1]

Joseph studied in Boxford, Suffolk under Mr. Huggen. [6] He was admitted a scholar of Caius College, Cambridge on 7 Oct 1603, age. 16. [1][6]

iii. Thomas Fitch was born in 1590. He married Anne Reeve.

iv. Arthur Fitch 

v. Frances Fitch married James St(r)acey of Latton, co. Essex on 5 February 1606/7 in Bocking. [1]

Frances is mentioned in her brother Thomas's will. [1]
