Henry Birdsall (c. 1585–by 1651)

Agnes Kempe (b. say 1586)


Henry Birdsall was born about 1585. [1] He died by 17 November 1651. He married Agnes Kempe on 9 April 1610 in St. Stephen, Norwich, co. Norfolk. [1]

Agnes Kempe was born say 1586. It is not clear that she came to New England.

Henry was admitted to the Salem church on 25 February 1637/8. [1]

On 3 12 1644 [February 1644/5], the town of Salem hired Henry Burtsoll to keep the meeting house clean. He was to be paid three pounds and 15 shillings a year. A 12 3 [May] 1647 account indicates he was paid for that year. [2]

On 10 December 1649, Henry Cook, butcher of Salem, mortgaged his house, shop, and an acre of land to Henry. [1]

Inventory on Henry's estate was taken on 17 November 1651. [1]

Henry's will was proved and his inventory, amounting to £49-19-00, was presented at the 28 November 1651 Salem quarterly court. [3]

Children of Henry Birdsall:

i. Judith Birdsall was baptized on 2 June 1611 at St. Stephen, Norwich, co. Norfolk. She died on 11 September 1689 in Salem. She married Henry Cook.

ii. Anne Birdsall was baptized on 24 May 1616 in St. John Timberhill, Norwich. [1] There is no further record of her. [1]

iii. Nathan Birdsall was baptized on 3 September 1620 in St. Andrew, Norwich. [1]

Nathan Birdsall of Salem sold Henry Cook five acres in Salem on 16 February 1654/5. [1]
