ISAAC FOSTER (1630–1691), son of Renold Foster and Judith Wignol

MARY JACKSON (d. 1677)


Isaac was born in 1630. [1] Isaac Sr. died on 8 February 1691 in Ipswich. [2] He married first Mary Jackson on 5 May 1658. [1] Isaac married second Martha Hale on 16 March 1679 in Ipswich. [2]

Mary, the wife of Isaac died on 27 November 1677 in Ipswich. [2]

Isaac lived in Ipswich near Topsfield at the east end of Symond's Farm, the town line dividing the town. [1]

Isaac of Ipswich is on a 31 May 1671 list of freemen. [3] He is on a 18 February 1675 list of names of those having the right of commonage in Ipswich. [4]

Isaac's will is torn. He mentions his wife Martha and his sons, Jacob, Daniel and Eliezer. He mentions his (seven?) daughters, but does not name them. [5]

Children of Isaac Foster and Mary Jackson: Recorded in Ipswich as the children of Isaac. [2]

i. Jonathan Foster was born on 9 January 1658. He died on 15 May 1661 in Ipswich. [2]

ii. Mehitable Foster was born on 19 September 1660. She died in February 1660/[1?] in Ipswich. [2]

iii. Jacob Foster was born on 9 February 1662. He married first Sarah, the daughter of Isaiah Wood on 12 September 1688. [1] She died on 27 September 1697. [1] Jacob of Ipswich married second Mary Edwards on 20 May 1700 in Topsfield. [6][1]

Jacob moved to Lebanon, Connecticut in 1718. [1]

iv. Benjamin Foster was born in June 1665 in Ipswich.

v. Elizabeth Foster was born on 20 April 1667.

vi. Mary Foster was born on 26 June 1669. She married Robert Grant on 27 February 1686 in Ipswich. [1][2]

vii. Daniel Foster was born on 14 November 1670. Daniel of Ipswich married first Catharine Freese on 2 March 1693 in Topsfield. [1][6] She died on 3 March 1694/5. [1] He married second Mary, the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Seaver) Dresser of Rowley, on 4 December 1696. [1]

Daniel moved to Lebanon, Connecticut.

viii. Martha Foster was born on 1 August 1672. She married Thompson Wood on 8 December 1691. [1]

ix. Ruth Foster was born on 10 February 1673/[4?]. Ruth of Ipswich married Samuel Grove (Grow) of Ipswich on 25 April 1694 in Ipswich. [6] Samuel, the son of John and Hannah (Lord) Grow, was born on 31 December 1671. [7]

x. Prudence Foster was born on 23 May 1675 in Ipswich. She died on 28 October 1755 in Topsfield. She married Joseph Boardman.

xi. Hannah Foster was born on 24 October 1676. She probably died young.

Children of Issaac Foster and Martha Hale: Recorded in Ipswich, the first two as children of Isaac, Sarah as the daughter of Isaac and Martha. [2]

xii. Hannah Foster was born on 16 February 1681/[2?] in Ispwich.

xiii. Eliezer Foster was born in 1685 in Ipswich. He died on 15 November 1771 in Ipswich. [1] He married Elizabeth Fiske after 6 December 1703 (intention). [1] She died on 19 February 1758. [1]

Eliezer was a weaver. [1]

xiv. Sarah Foster was born on 19 March 1687 in Ipswich.
