YELVERTON CROWELLL (CROW) (d. 1683) son of John Crowe and Elishua Unknown

ELIZABETH UNKNOWN (d. aft. 1683)


Yelverton died "suddenly" on 24 October 1683. [1]

Yelverton lived at South Sea in West Yarmouth in 1640, and appears to have there on his farm. [1] He is frequently referred to as "Mr." and was a selectman and on a grand inquest. [1]

Yelverton was in the Yarmouth section of the 1643 list of those able to bear arms in Plymouth Colony. [2]

Yelverton Crow was chosen surveyor of highways on 2 June 1646 in Yarmouth. [3]

Mr. John Crow and Yelverton Crow are in the Yarmouth section of a 19 May 1670 list of freemen in Plymouth Colony. [4, 5: 232]

Yelverton Crowell alias Crow of Yarmouth made his will on 23 December 1681. He left most of his estate to his youngest living son Thomas and made him his sole executor. Thomas was to maintain his mother and pay Yelverton's other sons—John, Edward and Samuel—five shillings a year in silver money. Yelverton left his grandchild Elizabeth Gifford two cows, two swine, a feather bed and a bolster. [1]

i. John Crowell was born about 1642. [1] He died on 5 October 1753 [!]. [1] He married Hannah Unknown about 1680. [1]

ii. Edward Crowell was born about 1644. [1] He married Mary Lothrop of Barnstable on 16 January 1723. [1]

iii. Samuel Crowell was born about 1646. [1] He died on 12 April 1723. [1] He married Hannah Unknown about 1675. [1]

Samuel moved to Cape May, New Jersey. [1]

v. Elishua Crowell was born about 1647/8. She married John Gifford.

iv. Thomas Crowell (twin) was born on 9 May 1649. [1] He died on 22 April 1722. [1] He married Deborah Unknown. [1]

vi. Elizabeth Crowell (twin) was born on 9 May 1646. [1] She married Samuel Mathues. [1]

Samuel and Elizabeth moved to Cape May, New Jersey. [1]

vii. Yelverton Crowell was born about 1651. [1] He died before 1683. [1]

vii. Mary Crowell was born about 1653. [1] She died on 18 September 1727. [1] She married first Joshua Allen. [1] Joshua was probably the son of George Allen of Sandwich. [1] He died on 27 December 1699. [1] Mary married second as his second wife William Moore on 17 July 1700. [1] He married third Tamar Simons. [1]
